Very Common
by Dipankar Mukherji on Nov 23, 2017 12:30 PM  | Hide replies

This is very common for last 70 years. Disgruntled party men of all political parties who do not get tickets will be paid by a opposition weak party to spoil the chances of main party candidate. There are so many monetary advantages to be elected MLA that some of them will go to any length to become legislature.
if a person applies as a independent then he must not be member of any political party for last one year.
if a person gets party ticket then he must be member of that political party for last three years so that persons will not switch sides easily. These political reforms must be carried out.

A valid point though real priority things lie elsewhere. Food, water, roof, healthcare, transport, freedom of expression, religion i.e. no direct or indirect coercion for foisting culture and counterfeit patriotism/nationalism, and above all, an atmosphere of peace, calm, fellowship, true religious values based not only on unhistoric myths but on true heroes and immediate stopping of all rabid drive for writing a false self-boosting history etc. are required. The govt.must come out of pre-2014 electioneering stance and work for the entire nation, not a part of it.

Communal card
by piri on Nov 23, 2017 12:21 PM  | Hide replies

works in north India only because commoners there are far too stuxpid in general to understand that the chief purpose for which the great majority of communal flare ups are engineered by political parties is to divert attention from their acts of big corruption !

And as a result, public resources that ought to have gone into improving living conditions for commoners are routinely stolen by vested interests with the help of the Congress and even more with the help of the BJP and north Indians live with some of the worst human development indices in the world.

The results are increasingly on show; crores of semi starving Biharis, U.Pites, M.Pites, Jharkhandis, Chattisgarhis, Oriyas swarm frantically in ever increasing numbers to Mumbai and other metros and to the high wage island of Kerala looking for sustenance.

It is ironical that Keralites who are spread all over the world is pointing fingers at their countrymen from other states!! Kerala has achieved a lot, not because of the state governments of either LDF or UDF, but because of Keralites who venture out of their state to earn livelihood and sent back remittance religiously. Prole of others states were not willing to leave their native land, but of late they have learned a lesson or two and these days, you can see many from Himachal, UP and Punjab also working in Gulf countries.

I am originally from Kerala and I Agree to your point that Kerala is what Kerala is because of Keralites who toil hard outside in other states or other countries . Kerala has always been a Money Order economy, and some useless people like Komali Piri think that because of Communist, Kerala is developed. If communist have developed Kerala by alternatively swapping power with Congress every 5 yrs then why they have not been able to developed West Bengal even after being in power for uninterrupted 34yrs?

Whether Kerala is *developed* or not depends on what you consider as *development* !

So, development in Kerala is only because of money sent in by expats ?

So...........Kerala has the best network of Primary Health centres (PHCs) and so its public healthcare is the best in the country because of money sent in by expats and not because of govt policy ?

Kerala has the highest per capita budgetary healthcare allocation in the country because of money sent in by expats ?

Kerala leads in health indices (lowest MMR, lowest IMR, highest living span for both men and women, highest no of hospital beds per capita, highest no of doctors and other medical professionals per capita, etc.) because of money sent in by expats and not because of govt policy and high govt allocations for healthcare ?

Kerala has the highest no of schools per capita and highest literacy in the country because of money sent by its 11 % population who reside outside Kerala and not because of budgetary allocations for public education ?

Kerala pioneered comprehensive land reforms in the country in the 1960s and dealt a body blow to poverty because expats sent in money ?

Any idea that no other state in India has implemented comprehensive land reforms ?

Really, little oaf ?

Keralites spread all over the world, true.

North Indians work in Kerala, true.

But........there is a big difference in the profiles of these two segments !

While the overwhelming majority of Keralites who work outside their state are in white collar jobs, North Indians in Kerala (their number - 28 lakhs - is not much less than the total number of keralites working outside the state - 36 lakhs) are almost entirely in blue collar jobs !

While Keralites take advantage of their literacy and superior awareness about the job scenario and secure employment in relatively high wage options such as jobs in the GCC countries, north Indians stream into Kerala to take advantage of the highest minimum wages paid anywhere in India (they get a minimum of Rs 600 per day for unskilled work compared to a maximum of Rs. 150 in their boondock home states such as Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa, M.P, U.P, Bihar, etc.)

Stop living in ignorance and begin reading reports in detail to avoid making a fool of yourself on discussion boards !

Agreed, living standard of public representatives is continuously improving but that of poor & middle class is worsening. To divert attention from real issues affecting public other issues are highlighted at the time of elections. People should ask about promises accomplished which were made during last election.

All SCs, true to their DNA don't work at all. They just want reservation/ all privileges for just being born as SC/OBC
- When caught in Rape case , will say I kept Ambedkar stutue hence framed
- When refused ticket will say being Dalit i am given no value...but wil not say that they actually dint ever visit their constituency
- MAYA/ MSY anld Lalu like MC amassed huge wealth and created dynasty
- Reserved IAS will say...not made Chief Secy because I am Dalit...

All reservation should be abolished as they simply not worth it. This has become big liability for country

Missing Opportunities
by Anupama Kale on Nov 23, 2017 10:31 AM

When in Politics One is for the public service. Denial of ticket for election does not mean the end of road. The service rendered by politician for upliftment of society will never go in noticed. Playing Dalit card / OBC card is to extract an opportunity by bypassing competition. Reservation has become big issue. A driver getting an government employment based on SC/ST lives much more comfortable life than the one who works in Private sector. Educational background cultural back ground social acceptance levels are more or less same today. The way Jignesh speaks can we call him Dalit? Absolutely not. Then why should he get the privileges? the young Indians born after 1991 do not know Dalit Atrocities and similar issues. They want to compete and missing opportunities due to reservations make their life difficult and in coming days it may take violent turn. Politicians will surly pass the buck and society will suffer.
