During their tenure as politicians they carry on by telling enough lies. It has become their character. So when they a write a biography or their experience as a Politician/Minister is likely to be half truth protecting their true identity.
As is the normal practice / belief, many people in hind sight only think that what they did was right or wrong. Certainly, neither Shri Pranab Mukherjee, former President, nor Shri Shekhar Gupta, a senior journalist, who only predicts on dead events. Why did Shri Gupta raise similar issues with Dr. Singh, Prime Minister of India? At the most these posts could be aide memoirs rather than posts on events.

Hahaha, this man, Shekhar Gupta, now wakes up when things don't suit his ideology of supporring corruption. It is not surprising he never wanted to know from MMS about his knowledge of silence and corruption, knowledge about more than 500 files lying pending with Jayanthi, defense botched up, spoiling lending system, mountainous NPAs during his regime, and favors in cash and kind to industrialists favored by his party.

Another Congress stooge , the moderator, has removed my post, without even caring to know whether it is 'abuse' in the true sense.
all of them made substantial contribution during their tenure in 10 years of UPA regime in their own capacity. Let us not forget the fact that we Indian have elected UPA to rule. If any mistakes are done by the regime, can we avoid the responsibility? I do agree with Sekharji, whom I admire the most for his straight forwardness, that Pranab ji should have come out with more clarity on the raised topics. It is a fact that he was never close to Gandhi family, but it is equally true that he never expressed his displeasure in public forum by not becoming the PM. He accepted the reality; and that shows his maturity as a seasoned politician. one cannot expect him to be a perfect 10, and the same is applicable to others as well, including Shekher Ji

Pranab Mukherjee's persona was built up by the press. There were many Bengalis who thought he deserved to be a PM because he came so close and by the way Manmohan Singh is also not good to be a PM. How could be a technical man be made a political head of the country ?! This was echoed by other politicians too, but the Bengalis-owned press rooted for him like a home crowd does in a cricket match.
In terms of the contribution, he can at best be termed as an individual who could fix anything. Ahmed Patel probably knew that and most likely ensured he doesn't come into the Gandhis' turf! The fixing capabilities were suspected even in 80s in his first innings as a finance minister. Neither Narasimha Rao nor Pranabji covered themselves in glory during that period - anti-sikh riots, allegations of favoring Reliance vs Bomday Byeing, etc. Navodaya schools made a start under Rao, but never gathered momentum.
Dr Singh was one person who stood out from the crowd in Delhi. A serious, honest politician who had his head and heart in the right places. One must credit Sonia Gandhi for making the choice and staying with it. The blunder of appointing Pranab Mukherjee as a finance minister he helpfully unraveling 2G scam for BJP's benefit, should also be laid at Soniaji's doorstep. But by then she already started making the trips for treatment. Disclaimer : I'm no insider, just collating and correlating from news. Neither do I have anything against any politician, including the former prez
