Why there nobody thought of it before.. As the recommendations for Bharat Ratna are made by the Prime Minister of India to the President, the then Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru (1947-64) and Indira Gandhi (1966-77, 1980-84) have been criticised for honouring themselves with the awards in 1955 and 1971 respectively.In addition Sachin Tendulkar and also AB Vajpayee were not remotely eligible for the prestigious civiian award...
I am surprised What political people are doing???? Narayan Moorthy is the most suitable person for Bharath Rathna award. They are failed to understand how Indian standards wealth and economy grow up to this level !!!!!!
I am 100% sure that this Govt will definitely think positively. As it has come under lot of criticism for its Policies towards Defence forces (Incl Veterans).It will then be able to BOAST.
Great Gen.K.M.Karrippa was worthy of Bharat Ratan award, but Congress denied throughout. After his retirement , Nehru abolished this designation. Later after decades Hon. designation was awarded to Gen. Manekshah after his retirement.

Because Nehru was Selfish, this is congress natural instinct. they take the credit of others achievement!!!
I think army men are real hero for our country so for bharat ratna they have to consider first then you tell that for army there are so many award is given then I am questioning if we think for that then award for every field also there .

Regiments should not be based on castes or communities.

Mr. Try to understand standards used and adopted can not be changed immediately. This regiment names was since independence for the identification. Neo is correct since India is secular Country any particular cast based Regiment name not required

Agree. Civilian are never entitled to any military honour. The army men also entitled to army honour. That is the reason the army officers are never included in the list of Bharat Ratna.

Against pseudo, Sardar Patel died in 1948 but still he got Bharat Ratna very late with Rajiv Gandhi who got immediately after he died.

Sardar Patel was given Bharat Ratna in 1991 i.e. 43 years after his death while Rajiv Gandhi was given within two years from his death.

Three generation of Nehru Gandhi were awarded Bharat Ratna. After Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, one will not be surprise if Rahul Gandhi also lodge claim for Bharat Ratna.
