winning Elections and the International build up
by Vattem Krishnan on Mar 31, 2017 07:31 PM

India is known for it's multi lingual culture and the country struggling to develop that gives scope for global investors to gain from it's ambitions. Advantage also comes out of it's holding elections and changing colours of the country that further boosts it's identity of the people.Modi has won biggest state in Hindi land with his unique rhetoric that has no subject but only tsunamic conditions that swept majority to vote in favour of a party in rule in Delhi that provides a ground for them to claim stakes for rule for next five years commencing from 2019 unless preponed by the party in power .Whether this adds to political capital for the country that is yet so see it's people basic needs are to be satisfied. In this back ground US President backing up to Indian wishes for his own survival in the most powerful and advanced country is a matter of conjecture as after elections the President is yet to firm up himself in white house. What ever diplomatic circles in south block expect for US to oblige different from past history based on mutual relations and it's own global strategy are questionable as in both these countries the leaders heading these Nations have different strategy and approach from global perspectives

Trump is half way
by piri on Mar 31, 2017 12:54 AM

through already with his sell-a-big-number-of-fighter-planes to India project.

His first call to Modi after becoming President was all about that (as vividly portrayed by the former ambassador, Bharat Kumar).

And Modi gave a quiet burial to his hyped to the skies *Make in India* project after that ! After the first call from Trump, Modi, given his penchant for loud chest thumping, might surely have gone right round the country braying at his shrillest about the call. Instead, there was nothing but a deafening silence about the Trump call !

Trump has set his eyes once again now on India to sell those planes and earn his no-longer-so-healthy pets such as Lockheed Martin much needed revenue !!

Headline is completely misleading. What if Trump does not deliver? Will modi impose sanctions on US or will there be surgical strike against them?

Such kind of dirty media tactics will only work here but there wont be any takers there in US or anywhere else.

Why crave for a Trump meeting?
by on Mar 30, 2017 10:05 AM  | Hide replies

I do not remember any PM being so desparate to get a meeting with the US President. Sending our NSA repeatedly, Foreign Secretary, Commerce Secretary to USA just for arranging an invitation from Washington. Sorry to say, this makes India look puny. Just look at the Chinese stand, they did not take any umbrage to US hosting Japanese PM, showed patience and finally Trump is hosting their President Xi on 6-7 April @ his own personal Florida ranch house. Or Putin forcing the US administration to state that Russia had no hand in the hackings in US. Strong nations behave in this manner,

I fully agree, actually it is our colonial hangover. We crave for recognition from Anglo-Saxon countries, specially UK & US. Just see how much coverage is given in media to US President,Oscar, Serena Williams, Tiger Woods etc., but other nation's leaders, sports personalities, economists get no mention. We are ready to lick the feet of the whites , but are hitting the African students. The above report is on similar lines.

If H1B visa rules are not eased Indian IT cos will be in trouble and Govts image in India will get a hit. There may be large scale unemployment and other economic consequences. Already US has reduced support to economies based on coal energy(India one of those).

Sorry, I donot agree with You for the Following Reasons;
1. NSA Meetings is a Part of the Strategy to Corner China and Pakistan. Therefore, to pressurize China and Pakistan. This is the continuation of the previous efforts.
2. China and Japan have been Giants much before India even thought of it. Therefore, once again, Modi will try to build relations with Trump.
3. Do Not forget, Trump himself had called up Modi after his Victory. It may be after he spoke to Britain, China, Japan and some few others, but, the important point is that, he had personally called up.
4. So far, none of the Indian Prime Ministers have got the Honour of meeting US Presidents twice in a short span and that too on Invitation.
5. Don't forget, Indian PM must meet Trump for easing the VISA Norms for Indians. It is in utmost interest of Indian People. So, donot keep kribbing about anything and everything done by Modiji.

It is other way round. Where as Trump wants to refurbish his own fading image and Modi wants to ensure that India interests should are fully protected. This may not be applicable to all heads of all states.
