Dont be hypocrate and talk about secularism. There is lot of difference between USA and India. They dont differentiate between tribe, cast, religion. They dont pamper minorities. They have one law which is equalfor all. There are only two political parties unlike here several parties including several regional parties.Igf you advice PM Modi to make India secular country also give suggestions to him. Only asking him with one line statement will not be sufficient.

Modi -Trump meet

This article is typically the rediff style-negative, full of speculations by one person but of course very well (or quite well) articulated.
What is the value addition of this article when tomorrow we shall know the outcome.
PURE SPECULATION AND RUMOUR MONGERING.

Oh, dont assume that the writer is inclined against Narendra Modi in any manner !

He is a typical Modi bhakt who can or rather will see no wrong in the komaaaali !

Perhaps he realised that the current trip of the PM to the US is hopelessly doomed to be a failure and has sought to play it down in the media for Modis sake !

One should behave outside India
by newa on Jun 25, 2017 08:35 PM  | Hide replies

Do not try to overshadow other world leaders.

This chap goes all the way to foriegn countries hugs people shows those photos on media and tries to gain publicity all over world.

He steals ideas of other countries and copies them and comes back to India asking us to do same which is practically not possible to do.

Now he has been caught doing this acts and every world leader has got to know his tricks. So every World leader will be diplomatic with him which will teach this fellow a lesson to behave like a gentleman like other world leaders do. This is not a picnic visiting other countries and everyone has work to do also.

Do not try to make yourself famous teach other world leaders what to do. Modi is trying to tell other world leaders he is more clever and intelligent than all of them which is wrong and unethical.

My dear friend do you know one thing?
That the Germans stealthly took the detail of making bombs, rockets and other war related tricks from the ancient scripts written by our seers in Sanskrit. From Germans the 2 super powers(the US& Soviet Russia)stealthly
took away the documents along the Scientists after the 2nd world war, tested and piled up nuclear
armaments.

so don't blame our PM has stealthly acquired. Your are not insulting an individual person but a nations Prime Minister. Already the leaders worldover has stealthly took away all our properties and patented them as its their own is it not international

Vow !

The technologies of modern bombs, rockets, nuclear armaments and other such ^war related tricks^ were written in Sanskrit by our seers in ancient scripts ??

Vow !!

And yet, for several thousand years, Indians used swords, bows and arrows to fight battles under hyndu and muxlim kings !!

How dumb of so many hyndu and muxlim kings in Indian history !!

No, I have never appreciated ^Indian culture and history^ if such a culture and history means concocting and attempting to propagate pea brained fantasies such as mythological seers having discovered the working and composition of the atom, mastered ballistics, etc !

Rubbish Article
by Inzzy on Jun 25, 2017 06:35 AM  | Hide replies

Rediff kindly curate your articles before publishing them. This is a load of rubbish from the author who is nothing but a disguised & prejudiced Islamaphobic with a very narrow perspective on international relations. He has probably read up a couple of books & uses them to theorise & make lofty statements. His ideas lack deep understanding of what constitute Indo US policy & relations.

First he makes the awful blunder of saying that Trump came in 9 months ago. He was elected in Nov'16 & assumed office on Jan 20th. A simple calculation will show up that it is not 9 months.
Second he wants Tulsi Gabbard to be Ambassador to India when she has nothing to show on her CV apart from being the first Hindu to be elected to the US Congress.
Third he is ok with old F-16 technology being sold to India & manufactured here as it is a start. What sort of logic is this? If India needs to get ahead in Defense Production it needs cutting edge tech not obsolete stuff.
Fourth in his foreign policy analysis of China no mention of North Korea is made. Trump is leaning on China primarily to control NK as they are mercurial & can cause hara-kiri especially to the US.
Lastly someone who supported Trump for President like the he did is somewhere touched in his head. Only the white population supported him as he focused on their deep insecurities. Clinton for all her faults was still the best option for the US & India.

Such poorly written articles should be summarily

The author has dubbed the Paris Climate Accord as having no teeth when India actually went out of it's way to save the day on global climate change by committing to tough emission norms & phasing out environmentally hazardous substances like coal. The author has no understanding of such matters & it is best not to publish irrelevant stuff.

Regardless of his play acting,
by piri on Jun 24, 2017 07:28 PM  | Hide replies

Narendra, the komaaaaali, can only sulk silently at Donald Trump for all the irreverent things the latter has been doing to his image among gullible Indian commoners as a go getter PM !

First, despite all the fawning praises the komaaaali and members of the Sangh Parivar (both in India and in the US) heaped on Donald Trump, the latter nonchalantly broke the back of the Indian IT services sector by bringing in the minimum wages rule so suddenly. This, coupled with the steep rise in the fee for issue of H1 B visas, has put Indian IT professionals on a par with those from the US itself and the Indians will no longer be able to offer themselves cheap for jobs in America.

Then, Trump rubbed salt into the komaaaalis embarrassed ego by refusing to condemn the attacks and killings against Indian Americans and NRIs in the US by white raxcists.

Through all this, Trump said and did little to oblige the komaaaali by seeming to do things against Pakistan - a gesture the komaaaali was salivating to see from America in order to salvage his fast sinking image of a man with a 56 inch chest in dealing with Pakistan and in swerving world opinion in favour of his regime !

Trump dealt yet another unintended blow to the komaaaali by shedding his pre election brag talk about what he would do with China and actually going on to recognise Chinas overriding importance in world affairs and striving to warm up to it.

The komaaaali is now about to make his 4th visit to America in the last 3 years; but there seems to be very little to convince anyone about any positive and beneficial effect such visits have been having on India US relations. His Madison square garden moment - where the fawning noises made by an overwhelmingly Indian immigrant crowd was sought to be passed off as great enthusiasm in America for the komaaaaali - has long passed.

Well said Piri. Modi's earlier trips to the US have yielded precious little & where he had gone only to establish his own credibility as someone to be taken seriously on the world stage. Obama was too shrewd for him & despite all his warm hugs nothing positive emerged. Trump is a dangerous man & looks only at trade. There is nothing else on his mind & he doesn't have the bandwidth to think on multiple dimensions. This at best will be Modi's comeuppance moment where he will find the US cold shouldering him. Incidentally Trump could lean on Pakistan as he needs them to fight the Taliban & remove the terror havens there. The US understands better than us that it is the Army & not Nawaz Sharif who control matters there.

There are immigrants from more than a hundred countries in the US. And many of these communities go about as though they have the creme-le-creme of the US among them.

Most mainstream Americans, meaning WASPs, hardly notice this though !
