New agri markerting company minus middlemen to reslove this issue
by rajesh venkatraman on Jun 09, 2017 10:12 AM  | Hide replies

The farming community gets most of the subsidized items from the state and central with subsidies for fertilizers, power, water, seeds, agri equipments and farm loans, still they don't have any money to repay means somewhere the produce of the farm are cartelled by a few middlemen who make the most of the farm produce. The end consumer doesnot get benefitted as the produce at the consumer end is very high when compared to what the farmers get from the middlemen.
The govt must have an agency or new marketing company which will collect the farm produce and gets them marketed to various other towns and cities / export and benefit the farmers for their produce. All the loan takers ie small farmers should compulsorily take the insurance policies of the central govt to get compensation and no more farm loan waivers which is detrimental to the banks economy.
Going further no one will pay any farm loans as drought comes for 3 yrs in any given 5yrs and farmers will not pay loans hoping to get them waived at that time. Farmers committing suicide should not be compensated as people take their lives for granted hoping govt will give some compensation which family members will use for their future.
All the farmers should form as a SHG which will do community farming which will boost their income when they sell their produce directly rather than selling it to middlemen. The govt should create mandis in city outskrits from where the wholesalers/retailers can buy directly from the farmers

Do one thing my dear go and start farming and you will know why the poor farmers are giving their lives. It is not the money which counts, they are not idoits like you sitting on chair and commenting from your computer just donate one kidney or one eye to somebody needy and you will know why they are sacrificing their lives. Do you think they sacrifice their lives for money if yes you are big fool. Go to villages and you will feel how they live how do they crop which problems they face while croping. only commenting is easy thing for all people like you and me but practically it is problematic now a days for all farmers.

Kshor, people sitting in front of computers are also idiots. If you cannot differentiate, that goes to show your level of thinking & thought process. I am also from a farming fly, but now living in cities.
First the farmers must get themselves out of the clutches of the thuggie politicians, moneylenders . Over the years they keep repeating the same mistakes againd & again. Many of them sold of lands , earned money beyond their wildest dreams, splurged the money & then blame the govt for their misery.
Get all the facts right , before commenting .

Shivaji's statue
by Musalmaan Masala on Jun 09, 2017 09:42 AM  | Hide replies

I think this is the right time to erect Shivaji's statue in the Arabian Sea and spend over 4000 crores on something that is not needed which is the usual Government ploy to divert attention from more pressing matters.
The Government of Maharashtra does not have money to compensate farmers but have hare brained ideas to erect statues and unnecessary highways.

This is not compensation..itis loan waiver..next time farmer will take loan and go for drinks..they need not repay right? Lazy people is not good for country..ask for no interest, more time etc but why waiver? There are other low level people in the country dying of loans too..they will also start asking..a country full of lazy people..I like a country with hard working people..

the govt of day should look towards the burning issues than erecting statues, as we wont get anything from statues, infact the expenses will be increased by maintenance. govt of the day should listen and fulfill the promise they have made prior to the election. very simple.

Simple..such election promises should be stopped by all parties..if they start keeping these promises, india is doomed since once farmers gets it, all people who have loans would like to drink and enjoy too..they will do agitations and it is never ending..erecting statues also should end and govt should bring up employment opportunities. Very simple indeed

When one party does it, other party doubles the promise as if it is some lottery..people are also fools to believe them..instead they should ask specific questions or do not believe them and do not vote based on that...

and Amit, the gasbhai, just cant comprehend it !

Fuelled by the tens of thousands of crores of rupees in black money given to them by Gautam Adani and co, the two were just in the middle of a massive hyndu....muxlim........hyndu.......muxlim.......hyndu........braying campaign all across India when these stuxpid farmers had to come in and break their momentum !

Just what do these nitwits, the farmers, think they are ?

Are they as stupxid as the nitwit farmers of U.P who swallowed every bit of the fib about complete loan waivers we promised them before the election there ?

Cant they just quieten down like all good north Indian middle class commoners and chant hyndu......muxlim.........hyndu........muxlim....along with them ??

Why do these farmers have to bring in irrelevant topics such as loan waivers after crop failure, better conditions for farming in irrigation, supply of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, higher MSPs, etc !

improportionate rise of support prices
by nagabhushan narappa on Jun 09, 2017 09:33 AM

Govt increase the minimum wages as per their committee recommendations. Also increase govt employees salaries as per pay panel recommendations. But minimum support prices are fixed in most unscientific way. The committee never calculates actual cost of cultivation of any crop. This is decided by people sitting in AC chambers who doesn\'t have any experience in agriculture. since 1971 govt employees salaries went up by 100 times and so minimum wages but support prices went up by only 35 times which is making farmers to run under loss. due to these losses lacs of farmers committing suicides every year. Minimum support price should be corrected with respect to govt employees salary revisions.
second most important thing required is marketing support and value addition to agricultural products.
Thirdly all govt money spent on agriculture schemes made only department officials rich. The department is fully useless should be dissolved with immediate effect. dont give example of one or two honest officials. 99% are corrupt to the core.

Farmers: 'Government can't hoodwink us'
by susarla suryaprakasam on Jun 09, 2017 09:31 AM  | Hide replies

Yes, absolutely correct. These back-ward, un-educated lot is a scourge on Indian Agri-growth. Govt. deceived them since independence by encouraging small farming, rather than large farming of min. 100 acres that would have driven part of this population to other avocations. Now after enjoying all subsidies, write-offs, waivers etc; a stage has come where per acre bank finance is now between 1.00 - 2.00 lakh with no security.

why government should pamper only farmers all the time . They get subsidised electricity, water, fertilizer, pesticides, tractors etc and their income from farming is totally tax free as compared to other individuals are liable to pay tax on their taxable income. why no government has guts and courage to tax income from agriculture ? Why they can not be forced to repay loan ? why they are given loans inspite of past default ? why their unpaid loans running into thousands of crores to be written off every time ? The politicians are acting as farmers and show huge amount of Income in the name of farming as it is tax free. It is time to charge Income tax on agriculture Income. If others individuals pay tax for income above 3 lakhs, the person having income from agriculture be initially charged tax on income above 10 lakh. In most of the countries, this class of people dont get special treatment.
