I agree that we should forget about NSG membership for some time. However, the author has used too many cliches in his write up which obscure the issues.
If NSG membership is so important why don't we sign NPT? If so many country has signed why we are trying to show our self out of crowd? If we are buying few more time to do some necessary things to avoid some shackles after signing NPT, let it finish first and then get into NSG.
Yes.But why did PM think of that in the first place? Now, our non-success needs to be seen as an unnecessary action initiated only for boosting up his personal image. If we are not eligible, so be it ! Many other actions are also obviously only being initiated for party interests.

we should not beg to any country for NSG membership. At the same time we should keep all our options open for discussion and weight for right opportunity without compromising the dignityour nation.
In a way what China is doing is good for India. If India get entry into NSG without signing NPT then Pakistan's eligibility becomes automatic. We should avoid this situation and NSG should pass a special resolution for Only India's entry. Secondly as the author says NSG membership is only a prestige issue for India otherwise it does not gain anything as we are already having US and Russia as partners for Nuclear power generation.
