NSG membership
by krishan bansal on Jun 09, 2017 11:25 AM

I agree that we should forget about NSG membership for some time. However, the author has used too many cliches in his write up which obscure the issues.

NSG is so important
by RAMAN GOPAL on Jun 09, 2017 09:33 AM

If NSG membership is so important why don't we sign NPT? If so many country has signed why we are trying to show our self out of crowd? If we are buying few more time to do some necessary things to avoid some shackles after signing NPT, let it finish first and then get into NSG.

NSG dumping
by daniel thorat on Jun 08, 2017 12:32 PM

Yes.But why did PM think of that in the first place? Now, our non-success needs to be seen as an unnecessary action initiated only for boosting up his personal image. If we are not eligible, so be it ! Many other actions are also obviously only being initiated for party interests.

I don't understand why India should go in for NSG
membership even at the cost of India's self-respect.

We should not go craving in for the membership and begging to other countries who are not worth for begging them.

Let India discord that membership once-and-for-all so that at least our self-respect would be safe.

For once I agree with his article. This is sensible advice. Dump NSG.Let us not beg for membership to China.

If China thinks it holds a trump card we have to make the value of the trump card to zero.

China's approach
by Raj Gopal on Jun 08, 2017 11:23 AM

In a way what China is doing is good for India. If India get entry into NSG without signing NPT then Pakistan's eligibility becomes automatic. We should avoid this situation and NSG should pass a special resolution for Only India's entry. Secondly as the author says NSG membership is only a prestige issue for India otherwise it does not gain anything as we are already having US and Russia as partners for Nuclear power generation.
