Time and tide wait for none,India do it
by R ponnabalam on Aug 30, 2017 03:02 PM

China is too serious a player in international arena. It has outmatched India .We talk of make in India now for 3 years without still making it .It is a shame that having started Industrialization almost at the same time as did China we are a big laggard. The so called privatization had left a condition that , almost half of India's total wealth is in the hands of the richest one percent, while the top 10 percent controlled about 74 percent of it. and the poorest 30 percent, meanwhile, had just 1.4 percent of the total wealth as said by,agency Credit Suisse and we can boast of NPA.Are we on the lane correct these.NO. China has gone ahead with making it a Glorious to be rich nation. We are not grasping that line.China will boast and attack as it deems fit.Are we arming ourself well against the harms that can befall on us?ALAS!

Jingoism is opium for the masses
by Abhijit Roy on Jul 27, 2017 07:27 PM

What China is doing is to make sure that their communist dictatorship has a strong support base by creating public opinion against a host of imagined enemies. By portraying India and Japan as a gang of conspirators colluding with Western powers and challenging China at every opportunity. No matter what India concedes, China will always find an excuse to poke us more, because their leadership only think of themselves as Asian emperors. Like Mao said "Religion is opium for the masses", and hence sought to eliminate the influence of Buddhism from Chinese society. Now his successors have figured out that jingoism(in the garb of patriotism) is a good substitute for religion

China has pushed disaster button
by Anuj on Jul 27, 2017 04:48 PM

China has already pushed disaster button by showing Indian state of Arunchal Pradesh as a disputed territory. You can search Chinese map in www.google.com.hk Also it shows J&K as disputed territory. No idea why Congress called it Chinese assertiveness. China must show Arunchal as part of India if it considers that India could be a good partner in future.

has ignored or is ignorant of certain details.

These are

1. The value of the total exports from China to India in 2016-17 was 56 billion USD, not 70 billion USD.

2. The total value of Chinese exports in 2016-17 was 2.45 trillion USD. This means that exports to India constituted a meagre 2.3 % of the total Chinese exports. What happens to 2.3 % of its exports of course cant be a fraction as important to China as Hariharan labours to imply.

3. A very large part of Chinese exports to India happens not because of active soliciting by Chinese exporters, but because of soliciting by Indian importers ! Indian traders routinely purchase the cheapest and lowest quality Chinese goods and sell them to gullible commoners in India, making huge profits. Such profit margins are not possible with better quality Chinese goods, which are priced much higher. Moreover, though just 2.3 % of total Chinese exports (by value) come to India, more than 8 % of Chinese low value exports are to India as per data compiled by Chinese apex chambers of commerce. So, in case Chinese imports are banned by India, it would be the Indian importers rather than Chinese exporters who would get hit badly.

4. A segment of cheap Chinese exports to India (chiefly in electronic hardware) sustains a big range of Indian firms which use Chinese components to assemble finished products. Banning Chinese imports would force these Indian firms to source more expensive components from other countries, which can squeeze their margins or even make them unviable.

In short, some Indian commentators on the stand off with China (like Hariharan) appear to be labouring hard to vent their frustration about the obvious upperhand China has by clutching at what they believe are straws!

China and their friend Kim-Jong-Un behaves irrational because, due to freak of accident. china have foreign exchange reserve beyond their intellect capacity can manage. They are still in opium war mentality. In their distorted reality perception, they think that every body is like pakistan who sell their kidney and soul to buy chinese low quality products. For such delusional entity such as china, shock treatment is a sure remedy.
