English must be declared the National Language of India without delay. It is an international link language. All our higher studies, including technical education, is in English. There is no future without English. We may squirm and fret at this, but this is the truth. Learning English for all must be made mandatory.
there are many other problems still tobe solved in india. if go for hindi will not make any differemce unless illerasy is improved. three language ie.english, mothertoungue and hindi should go together. kk prasad
Hindi can be promoted with incentives, but never imposed
@ English should get first and foremost attention in all Indian activities.
@ If you give English training to SCs ans STs, they will grow up fast. Reservations can be discarded in 20 years if these disadvantaged sections are given proper English training. Unfortunately nobody is paying attention to that.
@ There should be 3-language policy. In each region, Local language followed by English should be given first priority and Hindi should be given third priority.
@ Any attempt to impose Hindi will lead to disintegration of the nation.
@ This is atrocious: "In Tamil Nadu, English script is being erased on the milestones along National Highways and replaced with Hindi, a language the majority there don't speak."
@ Even the present rupee symbol based on Hindi should be changed immediately.
To keep unity in the people of all states of India, a single language familiar to all Indians for better communication is must. And, of course this task can be successfully achieved by 'Hindi'. Hence 'Hindi' should be declared as our National Language and all states shall be made compulsory to include it in their education system. Every Indian brain is well capable of learning three languages without any physical difficulty, hence Mother Tongue, National (Hindi) and International (English) these three languages shall be taught to every child in India compulsorily. Learning Hindi doesn't means that your Mother Tongue is abandoned. People keep their Mother Tongue always 'Live' by speaking it at their homes.

Moghal slaves like you can love hindi , Look at Mumbai Pune , marathi has almost died there cause of Hindi , We don't need Hindi in non Hindi states , to unite us , Labors migrating should take effort to learn local language and skilled workers are more aware of English . If they don't learn local language and breed like rats then local language and culture will be destroyed . Marathi's Gujarati's have blindly accepted slavery . No spine .

Pakistan was made on religion lines but broke on Linguistic lines. Formation of Bangladesh , Come out of Hypothetical Akhanda Bharat it never existed under one rule . We all were independent of our culture and languages ruled by different kings . infact British united us as one even though there were princely states. W Why Native Hindi speaker feel superior to southern counterpart. Are Northies willing to learn our language BIG No . Living and Born in Mumbai Pune these northies cannot speak Marathi . Same thing will happen to Bangalore good step taken , it's not Hindi Hindu Hindostan .. It is India and clearly it will remain India , Union of India .

If so what will North Indians will learn any South Indian language (Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam or other)??
If people cant even resist ARR singing more Hindi songs in Tamil contest how can they move from comfort zone?? How can Hindi speaking people talk about Unity when they dislike diversity!!!
Its like learn my language not yours! If there are more Hindi speakers in India so hindi is made as national language then there are moe crows in Nation and Crow is the National language!
There is a story to recall. Person X have two cats, one small Cat and other Bigger one. Its foolish to have Two doors for respective cat that small cat using big door. Same like when u have International language then why do u want National language???

Tamils and most of the south Indians, oppose the imposition of Hindi as the lingua franca of the nation. they find no advantage in learning the Hindi, but feel, better spend that time , effort in learning English. which helps to widen their horizon in several spheres and understanding STEM subjects. one should study the top leaders and cabinet ministers of BJP who send their wards to English Medium schools for the same reason. North has a prejudice against darker south Indians and Tamil people particularly. case of recent observation by Tarun Vijay a top leader of BJP. it reflects on their desire of making Hindi being spoken allover India!
I case people oppose Hindi is mere looser and they are lazy. We had freedom from British 60 year ago and not with their language. Why cant these people learn Hindi and follow it. GOvernment tried with tri lingual or di lingual but people of India is not interest in Learning Hindi.
It is shame to follow a Language once our ruler but not intended to learn our counties language.
Change people need to change and politician and activist need to check the need and essential of it when people didn't change Government need to force without any option.
GOvernment need to give financial incentives for these fools to understand the need of learning the language. Thanks

Ignorance at its heights ! Go and tell this to all North East states, to West Bengal, Punjab, Maharashtra, Gujarat etc. They all have their own own languages !
Hindi and Urdu are one and the same language written in two scripts.Urdu is the national language of Pakistan. These are found in internet. So Govt.of India you please be govt.of IndiaR.Ponnambalam
As Bwinde Kang refers to TOI article dated Jan 25, 2010, there is no national language in India. All are official languages. Kudos to his article here titled "Facts about official languages."
Would like to add something more. We should analyze how Hindi came into India and was imposed into India. What were the languages prior to it that were spoken in India. Thus, giving heed to the above statement, it would be rather fair to arrive at an impetus how languages evolved in India. Simply blowing mental views, that are impulsive in nature on others, is not called for. Politics is a study in itself. Hence, no politicking is needed.
Citizens in India are peace loving. Because of fewer citizens who want to impose hatred through imposition of their personal views as corporate ones would only create tension in the nation.
Let us therefore practice gentleness and love our fellow citizens.
Let us not impose our own views on others, which instigates hatred and disharmony.
Let peace prevail. Let India become a peace haven.

There are quite substantial information in internet on this.Hindi was bequeathed via Farzi, urdun urdu road. The following sentences you can get in internet."Hindi was never a separate language;Hindi and Urdu, one language in two scripts.People in N.I wanted to write their then spoken language in Devnagri script instead of in Nastaliq in 1867" ad much more.Urdu is the national language of some other country. Why should we be crazy to impose it on non Hindi people.Let the Hindi speakers speak it, enjoy it.R.Ponnambalam

Type in Google "what is the difference between Hindi and Urdu" A good amount of information will come out.The first time when I was told by a shop keeper-he was a Hindu- in some 60km from kanpur ,"We speak urdu",What bhasa you speak,"I was taken aback. Then asked one man in Kanpur and then another man in my trip in train to Lucknow the same question. Both gave the reply "NO difference".Then I checked in google R.Ponnambalam
