We should certainly allow freedom of expression in arts; but it needs to be under certain principles. It should not ignore historical facts. We have no freedom to distort history, especially in the instances of leaders who have committed monumental sacrifices in the instance of foreign attack. In the name of freedom of expression in arts, can any body portrait Rani Lakshmi Bai having an affair with a British Officer? No it should not be allowed. It would only help to contaminate the legacy of valour and commitment shown by Indians in past. If at all Mr Bansali is shooting a movie on Rani Padmini, it should be ensured that the historical facts are not distorted at all. Suppose a producer wants to justify the British colonization in India under the guise of freedom of expression, should we allow that ? The sacrifices done by our ancestors in the battlefield should be remembered and preserved. Let us do it.
