You idiot, if this information was suppose to be secret then why would Air Marshall tell all to a Journalist. You should do some other work. Thinking is not for Bhakts.

Rafale jets, the much needed fighter jets could not be procured even after 6 years of negotiations due to various controversies. Atleast when it comes to national security, all political parties should stand united. But unfortunately it is not happening.
and still we will not be able to stop CHINA...mr and mr technology upgrades needed..and bring back those brains dat works for america, aftr geting der education from INDIA

Why do you think so pessimistically? Why we cannot stop China? We do not need to match China soldier for soldier, tank for tank or plane for plane. India needs to be strong enough to be able to delivery a mortal would to China in case of hostilities and once China knows this there will be no war. Remember, the more prosperous you become the more vulnerable you are.
"Beware India's enemies !". The headline for this article sounds far too optimistic. There are a few positive points but a huge number of negative points in our IAF's preparedness .
Positives are : 1. The Sukhoi program is well underway and we have 200 plus available.
2. The MIGs are still operational in improved configurations and maybe we can stretch them out for another 5 years.
3. The Jaguar and Mirage upgrades are under way so they will last us another 10 years.
4. The helicopter program is going reasonably well
THE NEGATIVES
1. If the LCAs will be in full strength only by 2026, what sort of fighter cover will we have from say 2021 when the MIGs will be unusable ? Every nation takes years to build aircraft and we can't go around asking for them at a moments notice.
2. The Rafale deliveries will take 6 years more and that is only 36 aircraft - far below the 120 odd that we said we needed.
3. In the FGFA, no matter what the Air Marshal says, our two Govt have not really signed any firm agreements regarding their manufacture and deliveries . We are still haggling over the designs. Our relationship with Russia keeps going up and down , so what would happen to this deal ?
Let us just hope that we don't fight a war in next ten years and wait for that time before roaring "Beware India's enemies"

True, IAF seems out of options in the interim, especially when they are not building aircrafts indeginously like china. Tejas, 25 yrs is better shelved.
They have retreated a step back to "buy & make" rather than accelerated to "made in india".

It is because of lazy decision making on combat aircraft in last decade that we are now stuck. The interim between now and 2026 is bleak, as you say. In contrast the Navy is in a much better position.

You couldn't have put it more correctly! I think the tag line is a tad too optimistic. In the event of a two front skirmish (not even 'war'), the IAF will be stretched to its limits. It is interesting that the Air Chief has given vague timelines not concrete ones for induction of new aircraft and force multipliers.

need to keep assuring themselves in public at every turn ?
Does the Indian army or air force or the Navy really think they are anywhere near the Chinese or will get anywhere near the Chinese in the foreseeable future in terms of military prowess ?
The way people from the defence dept keep over doing their boasts so often, the only message that comes through is that they are insecure about the true extent of their military might and want to keep assuring themselves !
No sign of a professional and focussed force that !

In certain areas, we have actually fallen behind Pakistan. Our Govt must honestly come out with such shortcomings and tell us what will be done immediately about this.

Nityanandji. How will it help the country by telling what are the shorcomings to be utilised by our enemies.? Hope for the best. After 10yrs of lull during UPA it is tr=ue we are rapidly increasing our military arsenal, including missiles.

Keeping the public in the dark only increases the chances of a backlash. Even electorally, the NDA would do well to release more information, even if some of it is negative . Public must also learn to accept bad news along with good and not expect constant hyping.

Piri... ohhh KOOOMAAALI piri.. You have nothing positive to say about any subject , that is what i decipher from all your comments regarding any subjects. Accepted that in terms of military capabilities we are not on par with China , accepted that we have shortcomings in air force, army & also the navy. The defence forces also accept it. The govt & the defence forces are trying to correct it .Thnxs to some great governance we had in the past , the defence capabilities have been badly compromised. But who is repsonsible for it , as usual you are silent on it or you have turned a blind eye to it. If you dont have anything positive , constructive or suggestions to offer so be it , the least you can do is being not negative . Alas your words like the dogs tail , which will never be straightened. Oooo piri, Kooomaaallli piri, when will you .....
