and slow learning non politician (Rahul Gandhi) at the helm, the Congress appears to be slowly on its way back into contention !

Such has been the extent to which Narendra Modi took North Indian commoners for granted, their gullible nature notwithstanding !

The unending campaign of lies, false promises, doublespeak and croxny capitalism packaged as development by Modi appear to be beginning to show up above all his high pitched bellowing about hyndu.....muxlim.......hyndu......muxlim......Pakistan......nationalism.......hyndu...... even to the most gullible people on earth - North Indian commoners !

Indian Voters?
by V Nagarajan on Dec 22, 2017 05:26 PM  | Hide replies

Indian Voters are very funny people.Whom will they vote and whom will they reject is anybody's guess?
One has to be very careful in governing the states.
One mistake and you are out.It is like "maneuvering between fire and the frying pan" and each state is totally different.

Yes, it is a defeat for BJP, if Modi cannot control caste and religious based politics, how he can fight in whole country with this prejudiced voting.
Similarly everyone is honest not tax evader as FM feels, but want to pay it respectfully not under fear, which he has created.
Modi is to take big correction, else will face the ire of people in 2019.

by lakshmy narayanan on Dec 21, 2017 06:29 PM  | Hide replies

Indeed a wakeup call . It is sure that by 2024 Congress alliance will win . But both sides have no firm long term plan for the country . But shouting against others , on personal gains . ALL politicians enjoy public money . Even during election campaigns , lot of security is provided on our cost , their aides travel on our cost etc . The public must wake up and ask questions about their policies . Else this country will remain like this only . We need to be " first handers "

THESE ALL ARE SILLY IDEAS ONLY. ALL ELECTIONS RECENTLY CONCLUDED HAVE TO BE CONSIDERED TOGETHER. ALL OUT EFFORTS ALSO CUD NOT BRING DOWN BJP EVEN IN GUJRAT, WHEREAS WHAT HAD HAPPENED IN HIMACHAL, NO CONGRESSMEN AND ALLIES ARE TALKING ABOUT.

by Vineet Nagar on Dec 21, 2017 02:28 AM  | Hide replies

What kind of nonsense is this?

Pappu and congress tried all caste equations and still lost.

Pappu even tried bhajan and kirtan to show off, and still lost.

If they have little shane, pappu will start a real job. Like selling Chola bhatura on Janpath marg.

When did BJP have 150 seats mr. Paul? Don't just bluster for the sake of it. Every party wants to win max possible seats, whats wrong in setting a high target?

The largest number of seats went in 2002, when it won 123 seats otherwise the tally has been between 113-120 in 2007 or 2012. Yes they lost 16 seats but most expected a shock defeat for the party that has held power for 22yrs. Everyone including you one month before the elections predicted less than 70 seats for the BJP, what happened to that?

That it still managed a majority is something which cannot be just wished away.

.....else how can their 6th consecutive victory in gujarat be explained.Fall in the number of seats is not because BJP did not govern well, but because congress played its dirty game of caste politics which BJP does not believe in and therefore not to pursue votes in any divisive manner.

Gujrat election: who must celebrate?
by smita M on Dec 20, 2017 10:48 PM  | Hide replies

An analysis which is in accordance with official line of Congress. Sorry, we need not to ignore certain facts-1. 1.2% increase in vote share of BJP and 5 lakhs vote given to NOTA. This suggest whatever disenchantment gujratis had with BJP, they are not ready to hold hand of Congress. Other wise 5 lakhs disillusioned voter would have allowed Congress an easy victory. Congress has won seats because of negative voting, not because RAGA has enthused public on ground level. I wont like to comment on Hardik barring one comment. Kanhaiya has more chances to have success in politics than Hardik, He will be down in next 1 to 2 years.

Hardik had 2yrs to get his act right & he did manage to a good extent. the fact remains that caste politics does not have a long future in a state like gujarat & the sooner people realise this, the better for them.
