Better late than never. After taking over as the President the spirited show put up in Gujarat giving a tough fight is a good omen. At a time when the Modi-Amit Shah combo is openly working for a Cong mukt Bharat philosophy--a very anti-democratic and against the very multiparty democracy ethos based on a polity of hatred for other political dispensations, it is very encouraging that RG has managed to get Cong party entrenched in their own citadel Gujarat. It is a very small first step and evidently taking on the might of Modi-Amit Shah combine will be a much bigger herculean task. First he will have to 'undo' all the negative perceptions of C-party --"laga chunri mein daag mitao" relating to the image of corruption taint.It is ironical that the son-in law of the 1st PM(JLN)was a anti-corruption crusader himself and fought against his own father-in law's govt on corruption of his cabinet ministers.But three generation down the line, the son-in-law of the family is proving an embarrassment! So RG will have to get rid of such liabilities if the C-party image is to be refurbished to start with and stand up against BJP. Next RG will have to be a full time politician completely involved in public service 24x7 like his tough opponents. Above all he has to believe in himself and deliver in elections, look independent and decisive taking tough decisions w/o interference from Soniaji. That is the only way to improve Cong party image and build it.

jpublic service ? my foot, a person who never polished his chappal , who never earned in life , always enjoyed comforts, lived in luxury throughout his life. he has hardly some education , may be senior secondary or more , but has no knowledge of India and its values .
RaGa was barely reluctant if anything else... He simply did not want to own up Manmohan Singh's sins. He tried to do that the same way his mother did it in 2004. He appeared to be reluctant and therefore trying to disconnect from sins of govt of his party, in fact his own govt. How else can one explain that a govt cabinet minister sitting besides him when he tore the GR issued by the govt. And more over the govt immediately agreed to withdraw the GR.
Indian people saw through this and all that bullshit of poison of tears did not work.
Now that Congress has been beaten into inexistence across India, he does no longer need to pick up the tab of bad deeds of govts all across, he has agreed to be president of Congress.
He is the young Caesar of movie Gladiator, coward but conniving. There is no better parallel than one between the Caesar of Gladiator and RaGa... Both Italians, Cowards, Conniving, Controlling their sister through the heir apparent. You name it and it fits.
