Marathas after Shivaji
by palanki narayana on Dec 04, 2017 11:55 AM  | Hide replies

According to the history I was taught in school, after Shivaji, Maratha armies concentrated not on expanding their empire but enriching themselves by forcibly collecting revenue (upto one fourth of the income) from Bihar and Bengal. Can anyone enlighten me about this phase of history?

Actually Shivaji camp was nothing but Indian version of muslim fight, they would only do gorilla warfare and brutally killed bengalis and biharis.

Read about great Shivaji and the way he was thinking about Moghuls. We Indians had been self inflicting in past and still we are doing same. Moghuls could never rule India unless some of we Indians would not have supported.
Backstabbing had been in our blood. And still people like you are still supporting same.

Yes,they levied "Chauth"& "SArdeeshmukhi" from Hindu people too and that is why they didnot get support in 1761 3rd battle of Panipat & lost!!!!!!!!!!

Revenue is required to maintain a Army so that Maratha's can liberate Eastern parts of India from Mughals. Intention of Maratha's was pure , they wanted to create Hindvi Swarajya. Simple question Can you make a strong Army without money ? People in some part of country were ready to become slaves of Mughal/British paying > 50% taxes, But pitty that they were not ready to give 25% revenue to create strong Army against intruders. This is ancient problem on india that we people see interest of small group and ready to help intruders for that. But we are not ready to trust our own people. No one even offered them food in 1761. Finally Maratha soilders fought without eating for 15 days and 1 lakh died in war. They were left to die of Starvation by selfish thinking. Many small kings celebrated Maratha's defeat because now they need not to pay 25% and they can remain slave. Unfortunately you can see same Example in Gujarat election where people are thinking about selfish interest of small people .

Yes you are right. In Gujarat elections I am sure that Hardik Patel, Melwani and Thakur are the seeds sown by the congress party.
We can see them dividing Hindus community in Karnataka by dividing Lingayat Community by telling that they are not Hindus atall. The Jat agitation in Haryana. All these are the games of the dirty tricks department of congress and they place a sticker as secularists on their p[arty. Hypocracy to the highest level.

Both sides are playing dirty games. If one is bad, that doesn't make his opponent good.

most of our Historians or History writers were Leftist minded, Khangrass dictated and thus True patriots were downgraded and Invaders upgraded. Akbar the Great, Tiger Tippu sultan but no where Maharana Pratap the Great, Shivaji Maharaj the Great or Lion Shivaji etc.etc.

Marathas saved Bhaarat!

Good morning Sir.Reading your article gave me immense pleasure. I am sure that every Indian will be filled with pride on reading this article.
However I disagree with the article on the outcome of the Third Panipat battle.
The marathas won the battle. With 60,000 troops fighting on an empty stomach, the Marathas decimated the bulk of the 1,20,000 Abdali troops.
Before the battle, Bhausaheb had asked Holkar to lead the women and children to safety if he were to die in battle. So, as soon as Bhausaheb attained martyrdom, Holkar along with the the surviving Maratha troops, safely accompanied the women and children to Indore. Emboldened by an empty battle field, Abdali thought that he had won. However as soon as he got news that Raghoba and Nanasaheb were coming to Delhi, the coward Abdali fled and never came back.
The sickular-liberill brigade has painted Panipat as a defeat in order to demoralise the Indians.
Fact is that Bhausaheb, Ibrahim Gardi and the brave Maratha soldiers fought bravely and saved Bhaarat from that Afghani lootera Abdali on 14 Jan 1761.
Jai Bhaarat!
