Bhopal gas victims get inadequate compensation ?
by P S SHAH on Dec 03, 2017 07:37 PM

Had this tragedy had happened in US, Union Carbide may have forced to give huge amount of compensation to the victims affected by gas leak and Warren Anderson , Chairman of Union Carbide may be charged for the lapse on the part of his company whose Chairman he was. The Congress Government Both at the state and at the center did not tried their best to get higher compensation and helped Anderson to leave the country without facing any trial here. As usual, the compensation received by the government was not reached to the affected and deserving people even after 33 years. The government took action only against Indian Managing Director and Chairman who spent some time in jail .The government filed curative petition in Supreme Court after nearly 23 years to allow them to frame serious charges against Indian officials of Union Carbide. I regularly study the judgment of Supreme courts and find very rarely that onc appeal befor regular bench and review bench are rejected, the Apex court never reverse their decision by allowing curative petition and that also after a lapse of more than 20 years after their decisions in Appel as well as review petion filed by the government rejected by them. Whatever may be the outcome of the court decision, both the Indian accused will not live till the time trial against them started. The victims affected by Gas Victims not likely to get anything more even after a long wait.
