Who is talking about caste or Dharma Shastras sitting in IT companies in Bangalore? Caste is only relevant in rural areas. Urbanization will nullify the effect of the caste system. At some point of time, we should do away with all types of reservations. If someone do not have funds to study then government should give scholarship to him or her, not reservations. Free education up to PG and establishing more govt engg and polytechnic colleges might help.
Well, first of all, I'm not sure about the term "Dharma Shastras". I'm not sure if there would be a reasonable unanimity on what texts can be clubbed under that category.
Secondly, caste in modern life gets its biggest source of strength from the caste-based reservation system, than from any "Dharma Shastras" that the majority of Hindus have never set their eyes upon, let alone read and understand and adopt.
The shameless do-nothings who benefit from the Caste-Based reservation system don't want to to give it up, or to put on a creamy layer restriction on it, or to set a deadline to withdraw the system, or to accommodate other castes clamoring to get included on that freebie ride.
Those who suffer due to the caste based reservation system naturally bond together, united by a shared sense of victim-hood that has already oppressed several generations and shows no signs of going away.
these missionaries have filled enough poison in world with distorted theories. nevertheless, caste system is very much there in dharmashastras.... and it is only the incorrect interpretation that had lead to all this poisoning of minds .... caste is not based on birth but rather on ones trade. dharmashastras dont talk for shudras who are those people that laze about and need no knowledge... this american prof. can write all he can ...suits his interests

i have not come across one person from semetic religions, who has anything good to say about other faiths. they mostly carry prejudiced ideas.... i test this everyday

Indian Govt Employees are Parasites and Internal Enemies of the Nation @ Reduce the number of govt employees to bare minimum, put enough workload on them, draw strict accountability system. Reduce their salaries to market levels OR at least stop revising their salaries, so that they will come to market levels. Divert the money thus saved to cleanliness, development of slum people, SCs, STs (imposing family planning, teaching them English, etc) and other development works. @ Reservations should be reduced to 40% (SC plus ST 20, Most Backward Classes—MBC 20%). Remove all criminals like Jats, Gujjars, Yadavs, Patels, etc from OBC and if they oppose, shoot them. @ Impose and implement 2-child policy strictly on all govt employees. If they have 2 children, they must go for immedeate birth control, else they should be dismissed. @ Impose death penalty on govt employees if they amass more than 1 crore unaccounted money. @ Spread English language more aggressively. We find where English knowledge low, there dirt is more (e.g. Hindi areas). Conduct English tests to all gov employees, failig cut thier increment first, then give decrement. @ Keep minimum number of people in regular armed forces, and increase the number of NCC cadets, give them professional training instead of certificate-training and pay them Rs 1000/ month per person. Do not confuse, we are secular, govt. must first follow it in politics, administration and judicial system, today all are under non secular domain due to caste, religion, region and language. We all must be governed by common civil court i.e. MANAV DHARMA,need of today. What we were-no matter, what we are and will be matters .
