India's Freedom movemnt: 90 years Journey
by Prabhakar Waghodekar on Aug 16, 2018 11:41 AM

India's freedom struggle was a journey of 90 years: 1857 to 1947 and the Zizam State of Hyderabad was freed in 1949 followed much later by Goa. During these 90 years many revolutionaries sacrificed their lives without holding any office. in fact Gandhiji came on the scene after Lokmanya Tilak who died in 1920 and Mahatmaji played an active role during 1930-47, 17 years. His contribution is indeed great. The nation owes to him. it would have been better if a sketch of 90 years's journey would have been presented for the Indian Young generation.

Partition of India on “2-nation theory” was the biggest mistake made in 20th Century (15.08.1947 – 70 years ago). People well settled from generations were uprooted from ancestral houses, properties and made to wander over with empty hands and no clothes worn on body. Drinking dirty water from River without treatment made refugees sick. Became Refugees overnight with begging bowls. Women were Dis-honored in open and blood blowing down on rail-tracks from stairs of Train Compartments wherein refugees were traveling and slaughtered. Refugees traveled on Roofs of Train Compartments tied around with piece of cloth. “Is it Freedom - absolutely not?” Partition was done on human-beings in Leaders’ Conferences wherein it should have been ensured that humans were not made “refugees half naked and bowls in hands for food and water”. Drinking water from River Ravi held in cups made of hands. Independence is when “every human is protected and universal acceptable decision is decided upon”. Partition of 1947 was not a wise decision it had been in the interest and benefit of Political Leaders who wanted to assume official positions after participation of India. In reality people were partitioned and made refugees while India divided into pieces not to become “United” again? Without Prejudice.

RSS & freedom struggle

It is a chilling reality that we have been slaves to invaders from Porus era till 1947 , however we may wish to but we can not overlook or re write these historical realities. Similarly it is a stark reality & historical truth that RSS was completely absent from freedom struggle , So instead of bowing their heads in gratitude to the sacrifices of Gandhi ji , Nehru , Patel other heroes associated with non - violent freedom movement , they hide their gilt behind historical warriors like Shiva ji, Rana Pratap & others . We shall be fool to compare Shiva ji with Gandhi ji , they were no doubt heroes in their own right but belonged to different era & different kind of struggle . Never heard of any RSS leader leading a political march during around 50 yrs of pre - independence mass political struggle ?
The incumbent political establishment has initiated the process of chipping away at freedom struggle legacy. It is part of a larger project of grafting respectability on those who never participated in freedom struggle.

India's freedom movement is a 90 years journey: 1857-1947. RSS was born in 1925 that was a cultural movement. RSS workers were free to join any political movement then existing. The founder who died in 1940 was the Congress Party member, went to jail over 21 months in Akola, acted as Chief Volunteer Coordinator for Congress Conference held in Nagpur then. Shyama Prasad the founder of Jansangh sacrificed his life in Kashmir while supporting the movement.

British rule was golden era in Indian History!

1. British unified over 550 princely states into a single entity.
2. They ended Moslem domination in India and liberated Hinddus from 1000-year long subjugation that eventually led to the rise of Hinddu intellectual class who could eventually fight for the freedom of India.
3. British built excellent dams, bridges, railways, roads, etc which unheard in the rest of Asia (during 19th century).
4. British opened many universities and colleges in India, which helped Hinddus to rise as an intellectual class.
5. British introduced English helped India to become a software superpower in the world today.
6. British rule considerably weakened the barbaric caste-system, even though remnants of the system remain. Even superstitions decreased to a great extent.
7. Due to better medical services, death rate dropped and life-span increased.
8. Railways, postal services, modern education, English medicine, etc rapidly improved the standards and quality of life.
9. HHindus were living under complete subjugation of Mozlems. British rule gave great religious freedom to HHindus
10. British rule altogether gave a new direction to Indians who were mired in ignorance, superstitions, caste-barbarity and opened an era of modern civilization in India.
