You remove Mahatma Gandhi from Schoool books , in five years children will never who he was . SO its necessary that Mahatma Gandhi has to be taught in Schools . The same way patriatism has to be cultivated in teh minds of children and all by constantly singing, talking about the Country . Other wise there wont be any rememberance of the country and love for the same . Hence singing patriotic songs etc should be made compulsory .
if Benefits, Services, Subsidy etc. from the country can be forced then why not Love? If you want everything from the country then you should be ready to give something back. Sorry to say but our laws are becoming useless day by day !
Patriotism can only be proved by giving services to poor Indian society. Not by singing national anthem. Now days indian films are composing filthy language cinema songs this also anti-patriotism.
I think after the graduation or in academic face all student irrespective of boys and gals should go for military services for two years of period,with nominal remuneration like in private company has mgmt trainee or smthing like that, then corruption and these nationalism issue can be sorted out, one year hard and disciplined life will change the mindset of freedom of speech crying kind of guys.

People will even say it as forced, actually now a days people feel every thing is forced. Tomorrow this people may surely put question on gravitational force that it is forcefully keeping them on earth against there will.
We Indians have a great urge to violate rules and regulations. One look at the way people drive in major cities will show what I mean. Forcing people to show patriotism may actually backfire.
Independence comes with the responsibility towards nation. Unless nationalism is not forced people take things granted and think that it is the responsibility of the government towards everything . They want to enjoy the rights and forget the duty they should perform towards the nation. Sanjay

The case was : one person filed a case stating vandemataram is in bengali language and was denied mark(as it in sanskrit)in an entrance test . Instead of giving the verdict for this judges gives a judgement that national song to be played (assuming that it is not played.) More funny is , without reading the case details - people are jumping to comment reg. nationalism.
Certain issues have shaken the trust in between Hindus and muslims. Whatever the writer says, ground realities cannot be ruled out. As such the hate between two religion will continue. This is not resolved in last 70 years due to appeasement policies of govt. We are to impose secular agenda of govt.
