Career Politicians, accidental politicians and bureaucracy

It was quite clear that Gen Zia was the collateral damage in the games between russians and americans.

Reagan's time is being reviewed - the showman-turned-president was elected in the wake of Iran hostage crisis. Iran's alienation and Afghanistan crises were precipitated during Reagan's time, most likely without his knowledge. Much like what might happen during the Trump presidency. Many fear North Korea might be just itching for a fight. Everyone knows the Russian and Chinese are holding their pet on the leash and letting it bark.

Leave the bureaucracy and military alone, they will make the whole world a playground for themselves ! Just in case one is not convinced, look at Russia. Putin was career bureaucrat and a spy. Chinese presidents are also un-elected folks. The difference between those who are elected and those who are selected, is that the elected representative look back over their shoulder often enough - every human has a conscience and so does a career politician, who builds on human relations.

The danger from a bureaucrat or a technocrat riding the coat tails of an accidental politician. Reagan, Trump and closer home Rajiv Gandhi, NT Rama Rao, etc. fit the definition. They had no clue what was going on. Andhra was redeemed by Naidu, a career politician again!

Gen Zia was used to shift the attention away from persia and middle east to Afghanistan. He was disposed once the job was done.

The caption of article "Did Mossad..." is highly misleading obviously done to get readership. The article does not provide any information of substance and delves on condition and state of the then US Ambassador to India. It does not investigate even slimly if and how Mossad carried out sabotage of Pak One aircraft carrying Zia. Article lacks in substance and misleading and in a way untruthful in character.

I agree with you. But note:

The article is an excerpt from a book. Maybe there is something about Mossad elsewhere in the book.

There was another theory about Saudis wanted scorepene under sea missiles , procurement was organized thru Pakistan then President Zia thru Chinese. This angered USA big time, got the hint of this deal not a big monetary loss but kind of treacherous role played by trusted Saudis and Pakistanis, USA orchestrated the crash.
