Paid or sponsored news
by K Bhaskaran on Sep 25, 2016 12:40 PM  | Hide replies

Many newspapers are publishing officially sponsored news. Only a few are bold to publish actual items of news. Gau Rakshaks are protected and FIRs are either never or delayed to be filed in Police Stations. Can we not make it binding for the police all over India to file FIRs within 24 hours of reporting to the police. Let the investigation begin and punish those who file false complaints to avoid recurrence of such fake complaints. Let the police not be the judge to file FIR at their will.

Topic:
Sensationalism of main stream media and the art of news manufacturing.

Yesterday there was a news which was flashed on almost all TV screens.

It was about a women in a hospital. It was shown on the TV that she was served food on the floor. Please see the attached picture.

I saw the news and had my own doubts / reservations on its veracity. Sorry for the trust deficit but this is result of how mainstream media conducts itself! It's because the media of our country engages in so much sensationalism that it's difficult to believe them at once. They arrive at knee jerk conclusions without thinking it necessary to verify the news. These days most of the times it's news manufacturing not reporting.

It seems I was correct. Today a new side of the story has emerged. It's reported that the woman was suffering from mental problem. She was given food on paper / plastic plate daily but she used to throw the food on floor and then only eat it. Despite being stopped to do this many times, she still ate in this manner. It's also reported that after this the floor was cleaned by the staff and then food was served because she was adamant at eating in that way only no matter what anyone said.

Yesterday also, like other days food was served on a plate but she had thrown it on floor when that picture was taken and a story was manufactured.

After our reporters did their "job" the onus was on political parties to take jibe at each other for this issue.

Amid all this

Real India
by Ehtesham Usmani on Sep 24, 2016 06:32 PM

This is absolutely real India and situations close to that prevails in every state. There is no need to get surprised and saddened at all. This is the way we are and will remain so for another 50 years.
There is two India, an India within India which is pretty large, and this is picture of that bigger India. We are a nation of selfish, insensitive and corrupt.

who were responsible for this. Why blame 'acche din' for everything that we 'conscientious' citizens do? Do we need to be told by the PM how we should behave with fellow citizens?
