Being Indian
by Sudarshan Chaudhuri on Sep 13, 2016 06:28 PM

Out of our six brothers three had been abroad for different purposes. One for employment (stayed at UK for eight years), another for advanced research at NZ university for two years and the other for specialized teaching course in UK. Our father's instruction was there that enjoy the world but comeback to home finally. All have honoured his diktat. I personally found social life there suffocating as you don't have a role or opinion in the political or social issues of the country I visited.

It was 1928!

My father left India and never wanted to go back. I saw many Indian migrants and just like my Dad settled overseas! It was Africa first, then Canada, US, Australia and now New Zealand!! But not many would like to return! It is the water! Yes, water! Whoever has tasted water out of India will never want to go back. The only thing is that one cannot take India out of them! It is the Indian soil that keeps them Indian!
