Miraclee.....Yes it was....
by on Sep 05, 2016 10:44 PM  | Hide replies

The Church does not declare a miracle for the fun of it and just to to make all and sundry a saint.
There are enough experts and doctors who are called in to check analyze and report about what has happened AN ONLY WHEN IT IS SCIENTIFICALLY NOT POSSIBLE TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAS HAPPENED then only it is declared a miracle.
Maybe if the writer had done his homework instead of shootingfromthehip with half baked knowledge yours would have made a better report about the miracle that was Mother Theresa.

To a large extent, you are right.

But what you omitted to say is that the British looted the sub-continents resources to an extent far worse than the erstwhile hyndu and muxlim kings did !

Worse, they also prevented or actively discouraged the development of industry and modern manufacturing in India in order to keep India a vast market for their own industries.

But, what was worst about British rule was that, despite wielding suzerainty over all those Indian kingdoms (both hyndu and muxlim), they allowed the centuries old crass human rights violations practiced on the majority working classes by those hyndu and muxlim kings to continue unabated !!

Industrialization takes time to set in. Anyway by the beginning of 20th century, there were already a lot of industries in India though not to the extent they were in Europe.
British gave equitable justice system in India, though British citizens enjoyed better rights. Earlier, the basic Indian law was based on caste or Manu Smrti IzlamicSharia.
British did exploit the natural and economic resources of India but they also allowed India entrepreneurs to thrive and expand. They did not restrict the locals from prospering. And they developed massive infrastructure.
Though British exploited the Indian workers, they gave more liberty and freedom to the people. Before British rule, conditions were worse. Under Hindu caste-rule they force Dalits work in the fields, raise crops, harvest and then they call them untouchables and food prepared by them cannot eaten even by Sudras. British rule also prevented stagnationist-communism from invading India.

The British paid better wages to attract labour for their establishments. For the same reason, they did not intervene when those hyndu and muxlim kings continued to exploit the great majority of the population with very low wages, very low investments in public healthcare or education and lack of land reforms.

Thus the British were only treating the system where native kings exploited their subjects as a reservoir of human resources from which they could get manpower at better wages (that were still very attractive for them as employers).

Most significantly, the British allowed the two most vicious forms of exploitation in human history viz, slave/bonded labour and feudalism (ownership of all agricultural land by a minority with the rest employed as landless tenants/peasants) to be continued to be practised by the native hyndu and muxlim kingdoms.
