Praveen Lakhotia
Quite contrary
by Praveen Lakhotia on Dec 01, 2016 09:02 AM  | Hide replies

A friend of mine with his wife, last year visited China including Tibet, was there for 3/4 days. His description is quite reverse from what the author has written. It is true,as per him, that tourists are not permitted to pry here & there,& have to follow the given itenary. But nowhere in Tibet, you find poverty of the scale seen in India, even the rural areas of Tibet like Nyginchi bordering Arunachal is much richer than our himalayan states. His photographs of Lhasa,Shigaze,Nyginchi, their streets, shops, infrastructure, railway stations, local Tibetans etc., project a very different picture, that of a modern flourishing state, where the younger lot of Tibetans are enjoying themselves. My friend says in the last decade lots of projects, industries have come to Tibet, which has brought a big leap in their living standard.

Their may be prosperity and development in Tibet but it is availed only by the Chinese migrants.Locals are in a pathetic state and the worst is that Tibetan culture will suffer and ironically the world is a mute spectator.
Probably in today's world the voice of the poor and innocent gets buried under skyscrapers and so called development.

Why our comminst parties silent on Tibet
by Pukuta Mestri on Oct 18, 2016 04:18 PM  | Hide replies

Our Communist parties very vocal and extended their support to Kashmir separatists to an extent to shamelessly meet those separatist leaders. However, they see no issues China's cruelty in Tibet - may be ideological similarity with China makes these parties in India to accept there is human right violation in Tibet.

India is responsible for Tibet's annexation by China.
by Ahi Sen on Oct 17, 2016 09:51 PM

Knowingly or unknowingly, China policy of Nehru brought permanent subjugation of Tibet by China. India should accept this fact and try to correct the mistake by raising the issue of violation of human rights in occupied Tibet.

Occupation of Tibet by China !
by Sukumar Rao on Oct 16, 2016 06:49 PM

It is really regretful to note that no country in the world including super Powers and UNO is not taking note of the plight of Tibet people under the rule of Communist China. They have suffered and suffering since 1959 under the tyranny of China . China calls Tibet as Tibet Autonomous Region , but actually there is no sutonomy. If you listen to the broadcasts of China Radio International , one can observe that broadcasts on Tibet are always presented as though Tibetians are living happily and everything is OK. Actually Tibet is no enjoying any right/independence as enjoyed by HongKong and Macau. Tibet people are not given any chance to participate in Olympics, Asian Games in the name of Tibet when the two small territories of China are participating in their own name. Here itself one can understand what freedom Tibet is having in China . All countries of the world should pressurise China to give real autonomy for Tibet.

the Indian Lalbahais , who constantlt scream abuses on Israel (for their occupation on Gaza and control of Jerusalem) and on Hindu community for any communal incident in India are tight lipped on Tibet. Talk about double standards.
