Goa connection
by on Dec 12, 2016 10:45 PM

if he has Goa connection this might be counter productive because many Portuguese didn't like Goa's ascension into India and if he was so sentimental about Goa it may not be good

The UN
by Ramesh Joshi on Oct 08, 2016 11:30 PM

The UN is not as powerful as it was in sixties and seventies. Hope new Secretary General will keep in view the changing aspirations of third world countries. The security council also should be devoid of members interested in forming blocks to serve their interests.

Antonio Guteress as the nnew UN Secretary General is welcome as he is said to be a good administrator.Former Indian Ambassador TP Sreenivasan is an authority in International affairs.I was fortunate to have had a one to one breakfast meeting with Mr.Sreenivasan in 2008 in Cochin. His knowledge is vast.

Vast knowledge and good judgment can be different things. Nehru is a prime example. My concern is that his wife may not have appreciated the Indian Army marching into Goa in 1961. Goa was taken by force. And while the Indian position on Kashmir is accession through the Maharaja's will, he may not be sympathetic to the Indian Army there. T P Sreenivasan may be too optimistic, but I do hope he is right.

HOPE THE INDIAN CONNECTION WILL BE FOR GOOD
by damodaran mohan on Oct 07, 2016 03:18 PM

Don't be so sure and better to tread carefully. Portuguese in general have disapproved of Indian army action in Goa and I only hope Antonio Guterres doesn't carry any rancor on that account to put India on the backfoot on Kashmir.

If you go just out of your state, you search for your own state's food restaurants, and you search for your own state people and you try to find out your mother tongue films. That won't matter to you. But if some great people are somehow connected to our own country, you speak nonsense
