Back to school, heads down!
by Bharat Kumar on Nov 10, 2016 10:43 PM

Ambassador Sreenivasan while being candid also sounds a bit naive. We may have won Trump's heart and the fact that China is on notice helps. But a country is not made of an individual, as even Obama would have realised.

India doesn't really need any help from the US, the earlier it learns to compete and replace Chinese exports to the US, the earlier we would occupy the irritated polity. But then, the itch of the polity is what brought trumped the elections! The desi Americans, including whites and our own immigrant Indians, want the job growth in the US ! One would find it hard to believe, but my own long-settled Indian sister in the US thinks the visas should be fewer, or abolished! That is where the local make policies and visas get into a hopeless contradiction Ian's conflict.

USA and India are a hopelessly divided polities, or diverse, if you will. Depends upon to what level you have got educated!

Trump needs a Karamchand Gandhi to be restrained and be responsible and not blow the lid on religion. But there would be done again, who would Mahatma himself wasn't fallible when it came to the question of equal opportunities for women.

Therefore, one variable at a time..which one? Even the Nate Silvers of the world don't know how the model got trumped :) Back to school, heads down.

Let us grow on our own first
by R ponnabalam on Nov 10, 2016 10:05 PM

Accolades to us are good;but in the real world as Deng Xiao Ping had said ,"It is glorious to be rich".That says One country has to be rich in it's finance, knowledge and science space and Military might to become glorious
.Otherwise all greatness is vacuous.China or America ,they are too real world- tough players ;they give no room but create enough room for them. If the relation between our two countries have to be good ,that calls for us too grow on our own for them to take us seriously, no embrace and all that.R.PONNAMBLAM

trump's favouritism for indians
by peramma on Nov 10, 2016 04:23 PM

It is impossible to know at this stage what a Trump presidency will mean in practice, but with the Republicans retaining a majority the House of Representatives and the Senate and Mr Trump sweeping to an impressive victory in the electoral college, it seems likely that the new president will try and quickly deliver on his signature campaign promises.

Building a wall along the US-Mexico border; imposing severe curbs on immigration from Muslim countries; dismantling Obamacare; rewriting major trade deals; ramping up the fight against alleged Islamist militants abroad while pursuing an isolationist policy elsewhere — Mr Trump has every reason and likely congressional support to implement the agenda he promised the voter on the campaign trail.
