I am afraid, it was actually the congress party who was playing an extremely cruel joke on the country by trying to foist Rahul Gandhi as a leader. The jokes on him in the social media were not personal but highlighting the fact that he totally lacked understanding and vision needed to lead this vast country. The jokes on Sachin and Lataji are utterly personal and needlessly insulting those great personalities. These two situations are entirely different and not at all comaparable.

To command respect one must have the requisite depth of knowledge, skill and positive attitude. Moreover soft skill is the need of the person you are referring. Opposing for opposition sake brings him down.Why can't he support the ruling party if they do something good for the country. Here lies the question of self interest and country's interest.
