of the media is shying away from discussing is that the credit for this sweeping victory for the left front in Kerala goes mainly to one man - V S Achuthanandan !

If VS had stood aside and Pinarayi had led the campaign, the left would have come nowhere near the 91 seats it got !

The Congress as well as the BJP were acutely aware of this fact. And so they kept trying to highlight the differences between the two marxist leaders in the pining hope that the two would start an open fight with each other and damage the left campaign !

In several constituencies, it was virtually a Congress - BJP - BJDS clandestine alliance at work (and wherever the Muxlim league had a presence, the old Ko-Li-Bi formula was also put together with even RSS cadres working with Muxlim league workers to shepherd all anti left votes in one direction). The BJP ally, Vellappally Natesan, frustrated at finding his feverish attempts to attract more Ezhava votes to his party going in vain (he ended up with less than a quarter of the Ezhava votes despite his BJP bankrolled expensive campaign in the community), tried a direct attack on VS in his campaigns. Along with that, he also actively sent his workers to help the Congress partys K Babu, Adoor Prakash and the Kerala Congress party leader K M Mani (all proven thieves) as a quid pro quo for helping him in his big liquor business.

All such pining efforts of the Congress, the Muxlim League, Kerala Congress, the BJP and the BJDS came to nought as VS reigned supreme !

To govern well. Earlier belief of alternate will not work unless they work. Hope pinrayi becomes CM since he might do something atleast. In many places BJP has come second as well pushing UDF down which is good news. Now whoever rules kerala needs to govern well or else there is competition. A matter of worry for left and congress

BJP should now increase their base in kerala
by rajesh venkatraman on May 19, 2016 07:16 PM

The BJP now should start working on developing its base in kerala so as to get the maximum advantage in the coming elections for Zilla/gram panchayats by having more winnable candidates and at all local levels who can be projected as MLA. They should do work with help of central govt to promote the central schemes in kerala and concentrate mostly on the seats favorable to them. They should concentrate on educating the schemes of the central vs the state govt schemes and the benefits of the central schemes and help the real beneficiaries in getting the results of the scheme.
They should make sure to participate in cultural, educational, medical programs where their party symbol to be highlighted. Get the students community, trading community, working class to their fold and increase their base ASAP and create more BJP based fronts for the cause of the people. They should be more vocal in protest against the misgovernance or scams in the govt,

It is UDF to worry for rise of BJP.
by mahesh muliyala on May 19, 2016 06:39 PM

In 2011 assembly UDF: 45.8%, LDF-- 44.3% NDA--6%
Now UDF --35%, LDF --42% NDA--15%,
means NDA took votes from both the fronts but maximum from UDF.
Earlier there were gap of just 2% from winner to looser , now it is 7%!
Normally in kerala there used to be switch of 2% votes from ruling party to opposition and opposition used to win! now just 2% swing won\'t change LDF rule.
It is not easy to dialogue LDF now in Kerala. That happened because BJP increased its vote share cutting UDF votes.
This may help to keep mausoleum league(part of UDF) out of power in Kerala for some time.

U will never understand Mr Man with no name. "The most worrying factor for the LDF is the BJP's rise in southern and northern Kerala. In several constituencies, including VS' constituency, the BJP emerged second, pushing the Congress or UDF candidates to third place. Communist leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan admitted this as the most worrying aspect for the LDF at his press conference."
This is what commie are afraid of. Second place with time becomes first place.
