Unemployable Indians.
by FRANCIS DIAS on May 03, 2016 02:17 AM

The Education System in India has today gone down the drain. Take Mumbai University for instance. It has reached a deplorable state from what it was about 40 years ago when its students stood on a pedestal. Today so many more institutions & colleges have opened even when they lack teaching Staff. Take the Engineering Colleges. Students take admission and immediately enroll for tuition classes. This is because the colleges lack good professors. There maybe 1 or 2 good teachers. The rest join the teaching staff because they have not been absorbed by the corporate world or they have taken up higher studies which allows them to teach and learn. They are all on a contract basis. If and when they get a job they leave the college & the students are stranded. So how does one expect them to learn? They have to study like research students. Also the syllabus is lopsided. For eg. the first year IT Students of Engg. have subjects like Physics & Chemistry which they never ever use in their life. Even their Maths syllabus has no meaning for them. In practicals they have Welding and Carpentry which everyone knows is useless for them. At least Soldering might have helped them. This is the state of affairs in Mumbai Univ. Nobody bothers about the students. Everything has gone Commercial. The HRD Ministry is busy trying to get their Ideals into the Universities rather than looking at the problems the Universities face. These are the main reasons why Universities produce Unemployabl

Nowadays Everyone Knows Everything
by RSS on May 03, 2016 12:32 AM

During the Early 1980's and 1990's it was rather Rare to spot an Engineer, a Doctor, a Foreign Returned Indian was Treated like G0d in awe and with full respect and reverence.

Nowadays Everyone Knows Everything, every Student scores 90 to 95% and above quite effortlessly in Schools and Colleges consistently, Every Youth has 3 or 4 Degrees against his or her name. Everyone goes to Foreign countries that you can name like how they visit toilets at their will and wish.

Yet we are complaining about Unemployment, Under Employment and Unemployable categories.

Have people lied to me, or have Indians Genuinely become Intelligent and Progressive like Foreign Nations?

I am also Unemployed, but that doesn't mean I am or was Unemployable, it is just that you need to give an Employee Proper Training, Correct work Environment with Good colleagues, and Good Boss, the rest will automatically fall in place.

The Major problem is Indians lack Work Ethics and our Indian Rupee Salaries are Far too Low for the High Expectations of the Employer, who expects International Quality for the Cheap, Local currency which is insignificant in front of US Dollar or Great British Pound, it is a real dampener.

A failed state
by Bharat Santan on May 02, 2016 09:48 PM

When the population surges to 1.2 billion, no system can sustain it. That is why we not only produce unemployable workers but also unemployable politicians, administrators, scientists, bureaucrats, technocrats, teachers, Judges, artists, lawyers, journalists etc. In fact we are diving headlong into the category of failed states if we are not already there.

Unskilled graduates
by J Swaminathan on May 02, 2016 02:35 PM

This problems is there for long time and nothing has been done to address this. Most of these students are educated in state boards. These boards do not bother about the qualtiy of education. Only numbers matters to them. Sucessive state govts too do not bother about the problems. In the guise of producing more literates they churn our poorly educated ones. Parents too worried about the marks and much genorosity is shown by one an all these tate boards/state govts to give mark freely. How these students can cope with expectations. Strengthening the schools with qualtiy syllabus, well trained teachers and better teaching are the need of the hour.

Western universities are doing a lot better. Our teachers lack knowledge and integrity. Politics takes center stage in institutions of higher learning. No solution visible.

Unemployment problem
by nalini mohanty on May 02, 2016 12:03 PM

One way UGC had opened so many private universities and colleges. Maximum private university/Colleges are earning money and selling degree certificate only. No good teachers, no infrastructures only by showing big buildings they are earning crores of money. Only they are giving certificate no knowledge.
Other hand students are not interested study,no fundamentals clear wants only marks and certificate any way.
One more way the worst system in country is RESERVATION in govt jobs. Many eligible talent unreserved people are not getting job. There must be right person in right job.
Govt whatever serious to give free food, free rice-free home-not serious about opportunity to young people due to worst vote bank policy
This situation will be worst day to day.
If you go bank, registration office, school, college, armey, police, medical - if you ask- they will say- SHORTAGE OF MAN POWER- My question is how shortage of man power in a populated country?

Sub standard education
by Vijay Sahani on May 02, 2016 11:46 AM

Truly, the education level in India is pathetic. We get graduates who are not fit to be clerks and Masters and professional courses have deteriorated in standard over the years. There is hardly any research done in Indian Universities. Teachers are of sub standard quality and all Universities are under staffed. To top it off, merit has been given a toodle-oo. Demographic dividend? Nah! A Company which is sick cannot give dividend!
