Between 1991 and 2011, the Sikh population grew at an average rate of 1.2 per cent per annum, while the population growth rate of Christians was a relatively higher 1.9 per cent per annum. This growth rate was higher than that of Hindus (1.8 per cent) and almost exactly equal to the average for all religions. So, despite having the highest per capita consumption, the highest level of female education and the lowest fertility, the Christian growth rate is the same as that of the average Indian.

By hook or crook, they convert , hence their number is steadily increasing . Figures by statistics is one thing, but the actual ground realities are different. Many of the hindu converts still keep their hindu names & still ask for all kinds of caste based benefits from the govt. When freebies needed from the govt they call themselves scheduled people , when practicing religion, they are Christians. And such converts make it a point to add more people by any means , so as to justify that their conversions were right . It is a vicious circle playing out there

We must appreciate bold declaration of Honurable Tathagata Roy ys Governor, Tripura. This disclosure from Highest offices of Government of India has lot meaning and application in social life. As many hide their religion in order to defend they will do non-required activities. This draws attention of many to criticise and carry forward till social unrest is created !
Being followers of any religion or not following any religion is not a defect. In fact our religious ignorance has reached to such stage where we are holding the body of religion and not the spirit of religion. If Mr Roy is spiritually Hindu and not a religiously Hindu then he is a rare species and must be preserved and respected.
