much safer than you think

Just see the AERB website before spreading half truths.Compare similar incidents in Canada (Pickering-3 and Pickering-2) before and campare with them the time taken to fix it and the quantity of radioactivity release. The KAPS township also is nearby and check how many people have left it.A P Dutta

no radioactive material realease
by Sarat chandra Dutta on Mar 17, 2016 06:51 PM  | Hide replies

This is not the first of its kind incident.compare similar incidents at Pickering-3 (Canada) in around 1974 and Pickering-2 in 1983 to confirm how much time is taken to fix it and how much radioactivity gets released to atmosphere. For KAPS-1 status the AERB site can be browsed. The KAPS colony is not far away and nobody is leaving it because the employees have the first hand information.Hence instead of blaming NPCIL believe the regulatory body AERB at least. Thanks for writing a very logical argument. Of course, if something horrible has happened there, the first one to leave will be the family members of staff but its not happening. This article is based on fear mongering anti-nuclear group who would like to close down all nuclear power plant even if we go back to dark ages.

No Secrecy
by N K Sinha on Mar 17, 2016 02:31 PM

The happenings at Kakrapar is kept under carpet, why so?? This is the situation where the quality of life saviours like Free Air, undeground water etc. are likely to become so contaminated and hazardous to affect the life across the people living in the radius of 30 kms approx. Local authority of Kakrapar unit in particular and the administration of the area in general must consider this as an "Emergency in making" . To defuse the possible crisis, which I pray not to happen, every arm of Government or non-government shall tighten their belts.... Hope the situation will only improve now onwards......

NPCIL:- A disaster in happening.
by sanjay sukhadia on Mar 17, 2016 12:06 PM

NPCIL kaps is a ill entity not taking care of its IT infra and on going project. Govt employee are just interested in getting fat salaries and corruption happens on construction project and tendering sub standard grade material is used.
people are working on contract don't have proper verification from police just bribe 100 rs to local police station you will get verification done to work in kaps on contract.

all such lead to security breach and its a fact that Kaps is a ill running unit.
