WAS OVERDUE AND ALL THE THREE SERVICES NEED SIMILAR EXERCISES
by damodaran mohan on Jun 21, 2016 03:08 PM

Whatever be the ultimate objective in the global perspective such exercises are very essential to keep the forces trim and on toes especially given the fact that India has not fought a major war after 1971.In fact Indian army needs such exercises more regularly the way the infantry and other units are rusting w/o any war for over 4 decades now. Result is Cols and Generals are in the news for all the wrong reasons turning into more of real estate agents the way Adarsh and other such land scams in eastern and NE have surfaced regularly. Wonder how many of our senior Army officers, Cols and Generals are mentally ready to get into warfare operations mode and acumen should a war break out suddenly! Services must be kept engaged in warfare like activities all the time lest they get rusted due to civilian influence. A poor country like India cannot afford just maintaining one of the largest services in the world just feeding them with free ration w/o commensurate returns.

cutting on flag..
by george jacob on Jun 20, 2016 05:28 PM

in the last pic of cake cutting , the knife cuts through the Japanese flag..This is disrespectful in certain cultures..I am sure the Indian navy wouldn't allow the knife to cut throught the indian flag, while americans would genuinely not mind ( they are less sensitive to such things)..Bottomline : as Jesus said in the sermon of the mount "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"..or the Corollary : Dont do to others what you wouldn't do upon yourself. PS: This is not a subtle attempt to promote Christianity, I have great respect for the philosphy of Vedic religions. This quote just came to my mind
