An ingenious solution...
by shaheen khan on Jul 31, 2016 12:14 AM

If a 15 inch pipe is fitted vertically to the tail pipes of four wheelers and two wheelers, they will be able to wade through 18 inches of water and not get stalled.

Gurgaon rains
by Ashwin on Jul 30, 2016 10:06 PM

Former CM Bhupender singh blames Khattar Govt but when was the Gurgaon Master Plan developed? During whose time? Was it not to facilitate everything DLF wanted, as per their business plans? There is no place to walk on the Main road along Metro train route on MG Road, IFFCO chowk, Sultanpir etc. When Gurgaon was planned to attract MNCs, they should not have planned roads less than 40 ft one side & 80 ft both sides put together, with at least 30 ft wide parking in the middle & 15 ft side walk/foot path. I request the Ministry of Urban Development, to consult me for their 100 Smart cities, to avoid such problems for next 300 yrs. That should be our planning.

Gurgaon rains & traffic
by Ashwin on Jul 30, 2016 09:57 PM

Good. Police commissioner acted immediately to attend the problem & take best possible action the situation demands & permits. But I have to raise one point. Though Police have to come to the rescue of public, can they perform duty Non stop for 12 hours, particularly the night shift 8 PM to 8 AM. They are not fighting a War. Duties must be broken into 4 hrs duty - 4 hrs rest - 4r hrs duty, for Police to perform effectively & also to ensure that Police Officials themselves to not fall prey to fatigue. Higher Officials must remember human angle.

Delhi Jaipur Expressway @ Gurugram
by Srikumar Mahapatra on Jul 30, 2016 01:30 PM

It was a constructed and started operation since 2008. First of all Toll gate near Rajokori which given nightmare for commuters till 2014 and faulty Flyover on Rajiv chowk. This Flyover should have covered Herohonda Chowk as well. During that period Dy Project Engr rightly pointed out on leaving Herohonda chowk, Political musters/local heavyweight leader pressurized Original blue print
is dropped. Both sides of Rajiv Chowk to HeroHonda Chowk not equipped with Drainage Systems. These slip roads are over flooded with swear water without even a drop of Rain water. During 2014 this Flyover again approved for extended to clear the herohonda Jam. Another woes that commercial vehicles avoiding Maneswar Toll and taking bypass route and connecting at Hero Honda chowk, this 2nd mess. Only relief is KMP (Kundli Maneswar Palwal) by pass as every day thousand no of vehicle increasing. Best of luck to Gurugram Police, hope no heavy rain today.

But in Bangalore we will continue to suffer as CM is sleeping
by anjaneya on Jul 30, 2016 01:10 PM

"Fighting in the 1971 Indo-Pak war was far easier for Col (Retd) K Ramachandran than taking on Bengaluru’s land sharks who have reduced a 60-foot-wide rajakaluve (major feeder canal) to a six-foot-wide drain at Defence Enclave in Mariappanapalya behind the Manyata Tech Park."

We have similar stories all over Bangalore who have gobbled up CA sites, Forest areas, tank bund, lakes, feeder canals, buffer zone ........ More tha 200 lakes are missing from Bangalore and our Elite politicians take credit for the same.

First Army offered, then the center extended its full help to restore and protect all the lakes. But the Govt refused to wake up and save Bangalore which will be a Dead City and non livable in next five years,
Even almighty is not able to save Bangalore from land sharks and politicians.

What can be done
by y k on Jul 30, 2016 12:46 PM  | Hide replies

Infrastructure cannot be correct or change overnight. What Gurugram Police can do in such situation is to stop all type of commercial vehicle entering or passing through the city for next 4- 5 hours. Commercial vehicle are major hurdles and break down of these are also high.
