look of an individual should not matter as long as the passport photo and other identity matches with an individual. More so, the immigration need not worry about the general knowledge of an individual. It is not their work also. It is really shame.
Actually they are educated but really have not studied Geography nor visited many places in India. Its not racism. I travel abroad I am from Thane and I get asked some question about say a restaurant or shop in Thane very innocently. This is to real do a rough check
Hope she took his name ,badge number, designation on his name card and got his racist mugshot on her mobile then send it to the PM/CM and the concerned ministers in charge of minorities,,women & child welfare,state human rights commission and file a police complaint with the COP for sexual harassment.then see his smirk vanish!(hopefully with his Job as well)
I think there is nothing wrong with the Customs authorities at the airport.It is their duty to check, inspect and ask questions to any passenger whom they fill suspicious. Although, she may be Manipuri but if immigration officer has asked her simple question (How many states r there in India? & How many states Manipur shares border with?) then atleast she should have answer any of the question. Instead of answering, she chose to argue with the immigration officer and by doing that She only waisted her time. Infact a third standard student also knows that there are 29 states & 7 Union territories in India and Manipur share its border with Nagaland, Mizoram and Assam. As we all know that North East Indians states are in very close proximity to China, Burma, Myanmar & Bangladesh so it is quite obvious that citizens living in such states will also looks like them.
Another thing to be noted that the lady claimed that she was harassed by the immigration officer. It is really laughable. To clear their doubt they only asked her authentic questions which she could not answer. The whole conversation was healthy and there is not a single evidence of harassment as alleged by the lady.
She should understand whatever that was done it was the officers duty and if she still feels that she was harassed then she must lodge a complaint against American authorities for insulting our heroes (Dr.Kalam & SRK) in the similar cases b4 proceeding to lodge a complaint against these o

Little dunce, there is no statute that says that a passenger should answer such queries at the immigration check. The people at the immigration desk can inspect her passport, her tickets, her luggage and frisk her if they want. If questions are related to her passport and the frequency of her visits abroad, those can be posed. Passengers are not bound to prove their knowledge in geography or history or any other subject.

First you believe in Indian passport? I hope you do and if I have that, end of story. Let me flip this story. If you walk in any immigration counter(could be foreign) with Indian passport and they ask you shuklaji ”you don’t look like indian but ahhh..may be arab or pakist ani and further ask bomb womb to nahi laya??”.How would you feel?? What can you expect from Delhi immigration counter where they take money from laborers going to middle east.

There is no suggestion that internal security must be compromised. But, is this the way to ensure security? If you are handling a suspect without any evidence apart from skin colour or looks, even NIA has no authority to act the way the immigration official behaved. Please don't make these actions as matter of internal security. Such actions breed hatred and regionalism. And why on earth the suggestion she must lodge complaint against American authorities? Past and present Indian governments are OK with those (APJK and SRK) actions now.

What is the problem if he asked to prove Indianness...? he is assigned for that, he can inquire till he satisfy, these people who criticize him will criticize again if some lack of security fault happens and something happened like Bangladesh blast.
