Not for nothing

has China begun to invest billions of dollars in the Pak-China economic corridor !

China gets free and unhindered access to the Arabian sea, the suez canal and is given space to operate a naval base.

And in return, Pakistan gets very heavy investments all along the banks of the Indus from the north to the south of the country.

China can't compete with India & US in its ME influence
by Ravi on Jan 19, 2016 12:18 PM  | Hide replies

China even with high growth couldn't achieve what India achieved with all the Gulf countries. China can boast about a high profile state visit but it can't beat the influence India & US having on these states. China has also earned bad reputation in all the business ventures started in Gulf. Either bad quality or inability to deliver what was promised, Credibility crisis and so on over and above that Chinese economy itself is in crisis. Strategic push is just a wish.

India has only exported workers in the UAE, & S.Arabia region, no big infrastructure projects has been allotted to India so far. India so far is only a service provider like any other say Pakistan,Bangladesh,Philippines etc. But China , Korea, EU countries have multi billion dollar projects in hand. S.Arabia's HSR project completed by China. All supermarket stores are filled with Chinese goods, today China is UAEs biggest trading partner( Ravi just checked from Wikipedia, before writing). How much clout India has,can be seen from that we still do not know whethervthose 39 abducted Indians are still alive or dead, though 13 months have passed.

Competition
by Praveen Lakhotia on Jan 19, 2016 11:27 AM

Ashish in his above comments is entirely correct, that our top leader is unnecessarily trying to compete with China, at the behest of a country, which for 12 long years treated him as a pariah,& China was amongst the few countries which welcomed him not once but 4 times. This leader conveniently forgets that, China's GDP is over 5 times that of ours. If India has decided to line up with US & Japan, then he should not beg Chinese companies to set up manufacturing units here or invest in India. You cannot have the cake & eat it too.

Increasing influence
by Ashish Singh on Jan 19, 2016 09:39 AM

China's increasing influence in the Middle east, & also its already strong position in Iran, is a big blow to India, & specially to our top leader, who from the time he has come is busy trying to compete with China in every sector, & kow towing to US in all matters. With each passing year the influence of China is rising in more number of countries in proportion to the decrease in the US clout. Already Africa, & LA countries are Chinese baskets & now with Middle east also in its sphere, things will detoriate for US.
