NATIONALISM PATRIOTISM = JINGOISM?
by SABY on Jan 14, 2016 02:22 PM

Fancy this. Indian newspaper calls Gen Pervez Musharraf, but when it comes to our Amed Forces officers it is Suhag. Indian newspaper say Chhota Rajan PASSES away, but when it comes to news of our soldiers, it is DIES. We are averse to standing up in attention for our national anthem being played in cinema halls because we don't want to be taught patriotism! Our credentials for nationalism should not be questioned! We as a country are GREATEST NATIONALISTS ever to have walked this planet! We love to maintain a viewpoint that soldiers are meant to die and happily voice every politician on this. Media loves to rub that any point of patiotism, nationalism is JINGOISM. WHY?

Hats off to Gen Jakob Sir. A Brave patriot. Hats off to all those who martyred themselves for the cause of Bangladesh freedom, though they (INCLUDING Mujib rehman and lateral rulers) turned ungrateful towards India since their innate fanatism as usual overowered their wisdom.

Incoherence in the chain of command
by Monikut Sharma on Jan 14, 2016 09:13 AM

From the write-up it looks like Gen. MAnekshaw was adamantly pursuing a wrong objective of trying to target the towns and avoiding the main objective of Dacca. Had it not been for the obduracy of Gen. Jacob, probably the war would have turned out different. Throughout the piece one thing is clear, there is always a dissonance- almost opposite points of view in the strategy prepared by the headquarters and the command down the line. Abysmal lack of cohesion and an absence of strategic intent is what it looks like it.

First, India should at least gain the acceptance of all (including that of its own people) for the conversion of the LOC in Kashmir to the international border between India and Pak !

Even this, it appears, is beyond the capabilities of the Indian govt, whether led by the Congress or by the BJP.
