In a response to Mumbai-based activist Anil Galgalis Right to Information application RBI says on November 8, it had Rs 9.13 lakh crore in 1,000 rupee notes while Rs 11.38 lakh crore in 500 rupee notes. This add up to Rs.20.51 lacs crore of demonatised currency. Out of this about Rs.13 lacs crores have come back to banking system pending scrutiny for large and for doubtful source. This leaves a gap of Rs.7.50 lacs crore. I estimate 2.50 lac crores of Pakistani printed fake. Thus all in all Rupee is going to gain by Rs.10 lacs crore directly benefiting masses controlling inflation. Benefits have already started trickling in terms of inflation going down.
