TN-CM JayaLalitha's Demise...
by esuraj on Dec 07, 2016 09:09 AM

If all these Indian leaders who praise the Late Jaya now after her death, had encouraged or praised her while she was alive, she would have done more to the people and to this nation in turn.

bluster about thirudiyammas (Jayalalitha) funeral, the one theme that would be playing with feverish pitch even at this hour in the minds of all the politicians of Tamil Nadu and in the minds of top leaders of the Congress and the BJP would be just how long the dwarf, O.Panneerselvam, would be able to hold his party and party MLAs together and continue to rule before being consumed (read poached) by the DMK !!

It is truly ironic that the tallest political leader left in Tamil politics today is the not so well liked M K Stalin !!

As for the national parties and their puppets in the state (Vasan, Soundarajan, etc), the less said the better.

Amma and the poor
by Sudarshan Nityananda on Dec 06, 2016 03:36 PM  | Hide replies

Top leaders mourning Ms Jayalalithaa have said that she will be remembered for her concern and striving for the poor folk of Tamil Nadu . In fact this concern for the poor with a “welfarist” mind set inherited from MGR helped counterbalance any negative perceptions that had built up about her in connection with various corruption allegations, conduct of a lavish wedding etc. The poor and the vast mass of underprivileged are willing to be forgiving of such things if the leader backs them with determined action and schemes.

Herein lies a pointer for the ruling BJP . With the recent demonetization, many people who have amassed wealth through dubious means are now on the run and will soon be taxed heavily. This is certainly a “popular” thing to do. But on the flip side , lakhs of people at the bottom rungs of the ladder have lost livelihoods and are barely able to scrape by , due to the botched nature of the demonetization move. The situation will only get worse in the next 2 months as the Centre struggles to replace the lost currency to the system. You can ruin livelihoods of the upper class and middle class without a backlash, but what if you do that to the poor , for the sake of some puritanical ideal ? Will they be as forgiving as the poor of Tamil Nadu were of their Amma ?

Though poor people might think like you since they are illiterate and a backlash is possible as you said I think this can have long term benefits to the country and of course more steps are necessary else this will be also a waste

There is a saying that you get what you deserve.TN got Jayalalitha, WB got decades of CPM rule followed by Mamata rule, Delhi got Sheila Dikshit followed by Kejariwal.
