A case under sections 294 (obscene act or words in public), 341 (wrongful confinement), 385 (extortion) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code was registered.
All festive celebrations blocking roads should be banned. Particularly in north India, this is big headache. People erect pendals on roads, do namaz, etc. That should be totally banned. Hardly matters, whether they are GauRakshaks or GauBhakshaks, they should be thrown behind bars.
I suggest Govt bring a law that no festival donation will be asked. Even voluntary donation too cannot be given. If organiser still intends to go ahead. They can put their money. No collection box should be allowed. I spend nearly 2000/- per year paying to them to live in peace in the locality.

Kohinoor was gifted by a Maharaja Ranjit Singh to British. It was not took. But yes British came to loot and loot they did. So did many kings with in India. That is the Dharma. We were not strong enough to through them out early on. Only Gandhi Ji was able to achieve that. Had we been successful in throwing out the British 200 yrs earlier, India would be bunch of smaller kingdoms. British united India into one.
Extortion racket has flourished in disguise of pooja donations and this has become a big nuisance for common man as they are forced to cough up money and at times the demand is unreasonable. The hooligans make force-full entry to houses, offices and shops and harass and threaten the members. Illegal barricades are set up on the roads and commuters are forced to pay the sums before being allowed to pass. There should be strict laws to stop this practice.

It is the same throughout India. In South India may be less. Stopping vechicles and forcing drivers to pay. Setting subscription amount arbitrarily and compelling to pay. Out of fear people pay them. No law can touch them. All in the name of religion.
