In This India is shown as a predominantly Beef Consuming nation. This is Totally Wrong. The Leading Meat consumed in India is Chicken & Lamb ie Sheep & Goat. India is the World's #rd Largest Egg & 4th Largest Broiler ( Meat Chicken) Producer. Chicken is not at all represented in India in this Map. Rediff should check Data in detail before publishing. The NSSO Survey shows only 4 % of Rural & 5 % of Urban Population consumes beef as against 22 % Rural & 27 % Urban Population consumes Chicken. In case of Lamb ( Sheep & Goat) 6.4 % Rural & 10 % Urban Population consumes Mutton. Ref: Profile of A Meat eating Indian. By Manas Chakravarthy. April 19, 2017 quoted in Live Mint E paper of 2nd June 2017. Tkaes Stats from NSSO Survey. How can you show India as a Beef Consuming Nation Predominantly ?
