The marxist version is a very big Utopia and it is very difficult that anybody will put the benefits of struggle before his ambitions. (Self actualisation is a big mirage). That is the reason for the failure of marxism.
What we are seeing now is the diametric opposite side of capitalism with greed and avarice the main drivers. The political leadership and bureaucracy actually giving it a helping hand.
What we need is a mix of both these isms in India with a liberal cultural environment. The Congress couldn't do it because it was corrupt and dynasty oriented. We have to see the alternatives in the future, assuming the present leadership represents the right wing in the political spectrum.

Mr Sridhar may be revolutionary, but in West Bengal, the CPI(M) government sided with the Capitalists, although outwardly showed that they were for the downtrodden people. Bequething of the fertile land of the poor farmers to Tatas for Singur Car factory is the living example. You can believe any Government, but not Communist Government. If the Communist Government would have been really people's Government, why West Bengal is lagging behind. 35 years in West Bengal was a nightmare.
