The Congress

virtually exited the Tamil Nadu political scene in 1967. They are still attempting to make a comeback, albeit without any hope of success.

And the BJP has been trying hard, very very hard, to make a beginning in Tamil Nadu. But, just as it is with for the Congress, there is absolutely no hope for the BJP too !

In Kerala, the Congress is facing a slow demise. Local parties such as the multiple factions of the Kerala Congress and the Muxlim League have steadily increased their strangle hold on the Congress and the latter is today bereft of any bargaining power worth the name in politics.

And, just like in Tamil Nadu, the BJP has been trying hard, very very hard, in vain over the last 2 decades in Kerala to improve their vote share (which has ranged from an anaemic 7 % to an anaemic 11 % in electoral battles).

In A.P and Telengana, the BJP still look the same kind of non-starters they were in 1980 (when the party was formed). And the Congress is in steep decline in these states too.

Among the so called national parties, the Congress is well on its way to losing all relevance in the South. And the BJP is set to remain irrelevant for much longer than it thought.
