Lt. gen Harbaksh Singh was the real hero of the 1965 war. He stabilised the punjab sector and did enormous damage to pakistani morale. Pity this man was overlooked for the post of General and he resigned in favor of Manekshaw. However, the ULTIMATE HERO OF THE 1965 WAS the underrated small figure who pakistanis took to be meek, the GREAT LAL BAHADUR SHASTRI. What Nehru could'nt do in 18 years, he accomplished it in 18 months.

Such comparisons are unnecessary. Both have done great service to the nation. Nehru definitely erred on few points but he was the pioneer of establishing the present defence research organizations and the ordinance factories. All his works are proving most significant in our defence build up

The brigade commander at AssalUttar was Brig Theogaraj he was given the Mvc.How come no one mentions him, he was the main architect of the battle to pull the Paki's there
