PREJUDICED VIEW !

The Wing Commander himself says : “In 1973, our pensions were lowered from 70 per cent to 50 per cent. A widow of an officer who lost his life in the 1965 or 1971 war draws less than Rs 9,000. Should we be rejoicing? These people gave their lives for our country.” The Congress had been in power till 2014 and did not care a hoot for the armed forces; why did the army veterans and the wing commander not raise their voice then. The UPA II government did not even apply its mind to the intricacies involved in the calculation of the pension, which is known by their allotting a paltry Rs 500 crores for it, while the arrears to be paid alone works to Rs 12000 crores and one year pension Rs 10000 crores. And nobody raised their voices then too. When the present government and its PM is sincere and were taking their time to work it out very correctly, as there was a huge financial side to it, our army veterans did not have the patience. Now that it has been announced they are acting like any other trade union and demanding 'more', acting on the ‘instigation’ from some forces.

My izzzat is more important?

Izzat is what you have lost Commander. For a little extra some thing you have come out on the streets, to harass some one who actually promised you to give the very same money which you term as paltry now. You made it a festival of harassing Modi who promised to deliver which was not given for more than 4 decades. Where were you and what were you doing all these days. Is it true that some of you are on the pay of Congress?

At least have some basic decency
by Tushar on Sep 06, 2015 11:07 PM  | Hide replies

Dear agiating Veterans, At least have some basic decency by thanking the present government that has met 90% of your demands. It does not have to concede everything you are asking and you are not Gods. With every passing day, you are turning from heroes into villains in front of common man with your irrational demands that never seems to be coming to end. You are not bigger than the nation.

Yeah Tushar. Even we too have decided to change your profile n fix you in the Armed Forces. Now the place of duty i.e. Arunachal Border or Bangladesh Border or Kashmir Border or North East Border or Peace-Keeping Army in Srilanka or Siachen Glacier, is all upto your choice.

Happy enemy-hunting mate.

Tushar is absolutely right. What about the para military forces who are dying fighting with the Maoists? The army even refused to fight them. The borders are protected by the BSF and not Army and BSF is not on the streets. Where were these veterans all these 41 years? They have absolutely lost their respect in the streets. And if you talk abou corruption, let's not open the wounds.

Let the veterans remember that the outgo is huge ( Rs 12000 crores as arrears Rs 10000 crores as pension for 1 year) and that there are millions of their own brethren who don't have a square meal a day.

for officers OROP is not required at all. they live luxurious life in service. all those who have lived near to army, airforce and navy cantonments know this fact. for Jawans OROP is required but not blindly. also what about CRPF and BSF. already sixth paycommission is a bonanza which created a runaway inflation from implementation in 2008 and another bout of inflation awaits for the poor citizens when 7th paycommission will be implemented.

Very true, the officers really enjoy luxurious life while in service and after retirement also, their entitlements does not shrink, handsome pensions, facility of officers mess throughout India, best opportunity to get civil employment.
poor soldier no entitlement, poor behaviour by serving personnel, security guards job after retirement, PBOR must get all possible benifits.

You rightly asked about CRPF and BSF. They bear the brunt day in and day out either in the remote jungle interiors or at borders and they are not given the respect due to them. Poor CRPF, they have to live with villagers who cannot be trusted and fight the naxals. They are not respected as much as the local police either.
