By the same logic,a Deputy Secretary who retired in 2013 draws more pension than a Secretary who retired in 1996.Besides,a Major General or Lieutenant Colonel enjoysmore facilities as compared to a Secretary or Deputy secretary after retirement. And is it fair to extend OROP to a Major General or a Lieutenant Colonel who has retired after serving the Army in the Education Corps or in the Ordnance Corps or in the NCC or in the TA?

Vetrans behaving in most irresponsible fashion..
by ashish tiwari on Sep 05, 2015 06:46 AM

where half of the population go hungry without two square meals.. they want their pound of flesh by exploiting the general regard people have for the military forces.. shameful!! Govt should scrap orop and divert the funds to the serving soldiers and inculcate more discipline in the forces to avoid such crass shameful pressure group creation.

OROP n arguements
by Parthasarathy Krishna on Sep 04, 2015 11:25 AM

It's going on and on.. The veterans time they talk to govt n instead of egoistic clashes.. Fact that it has been on the cold storage for 3decades n they expect The new govt to solve it yesterday.. The govt is doing but while opening the issue the pandora station box has opened up on heavy pay outs.. It needs to be ironed out by discussion rather black mailing like situation.. The veterans are loosing out on sympathy by general public, who are also Indians n contribute to the nation in their own rights..

Absurd Demand
by PK Sagar on Sep 04, 2015 10:30 AM

We don't know whether the government and opposition reps then and now really saw the text of the OROP demand before it was passed in the two houses. If the information being put out is correct then the following points are really absurd.
Re-fixation of basic annually and 3% increment each year. whenever anyone questions the rationale of this demand they fall back on two issues
Have you ever been to Siachen or Ladakh and second more than 80% of our work force retire before 38 years of age.
What % of people go to Siachen and Ladakh
All the rest want to take advantage of those going to these areas and those who retire below 38 years. This kind of accounting procedure is unheard of.
The sight of Maj Gens and Brigadiers resorting to trade unionism and and arm twisting is a real spectacle.
This is what all have learned from Gandhiji

There are so many voices from the Government and media. Therefore, Government in voice sit with Defense veterans and solve it at the earliest. There should be some give and take from both the ends.
