Nonsense
by Anhat Jain on Sep 05, 2015 10:56 PM  | Hide replies

Unfortunate that a kid died. But how does it make it obligatory for Europe to allow them in?

Why do Syrians insist on going to Europe so far away when so many countries belonging to the Islamic ummah are their next door and next-to-next door neighbours?

Compassion cannot be demanded as a right. How many of you would allow them entry into your house simply because someone died at your doorstep?

It is hugely ridiculous that this article attempts to milk sympathy for B'deshi infiltrators. Except for the Hindu and Chakma refugees, just what persecution are the majority Bangladeshi running from? This mango is anything but Indian!

Why not all the people in world come together and at least give relief to the family like Aylan Kurdi.

Root Cause
by Anil Hingorani on Sep 05, 2015 02:15 PM  | Hide replies

The root cause of this is extremism which the author of this article has conviniently chose to mask and frivlously trying to connect to India. Why cant these people write straight articles damning the extermist religious ideology and sympathizers of that ideology???? Is the author on a mission to divert attention from extermism ideology which will otherwise gain lot of attention and criticism due to sufferings of these migrants.

Some more senseless ranting

I too fail to understand the Indian connection in all this. Some one frothing otherwise has got the Aylan picture to burst out irrelivant stuff on an acomodating Rediff. Apparantly there seems to be some religious overtones that are not expressed. Many, many years back in the 90s I think one celebrity actress was fighting for the rights of slum dwelers. Staying in an ivory tower and espousing the cause of the ugly face of slums and slum dwelers. Is there any meaning in this? I dont think so. There is a much, much larger question that needs to be addressed rather than countries opening their boundries just cause their original country is mistreating them. These same "migrants" would in years to come demand rights of a citizen and feel oppressed if the state did not bow to their way of living. I do hope such crocodile tears of a Mango Indian does not trivialise the larger cause of such tragedies.

The actress Shabana and the activist Medha Patkar ensured people are not thrown out onto the streets after they wash your dirty clothes and vessels ! Again, say the names, don't feel shy.

I see decent rehabilitation in the place of slums and the toppers in education are emerging from there. You certainly can't seem to stand that.

What is your solution? Grab the resources and dole out crumbs? This isn't just India's problem, if that consoles, it is definitely a problem created by insensitive pursuit and greed, everyone must introspect

On the occassion of Gokulasthami, one can only hope that the solution to the burden on the earth isn't a process of elimination but of replacement.

Thank you for publishing that article. The world has indeed gone mad. Extremely well written and full of bitter truths that we deny. How long will we put our head inside the sand and pretend that things are fine! Most of our politicians, born out out of a culture of greed, is pushing this country drown the path of destruction. This in turn influences the behaviour of the people at large, including bureaucrats, businessmen, professionals. Empathy and compassion are forgotten values in this money only world.
One can only hope that things will get better some day.

Face it and stand up

There are countries which don't take of themselves and there are countries which don't care and won't care..that will be so, for now it appears the world is overloaded and something might just happen.
The appearance of a little human face down has stirred people's conscience and scared them. Most don't react to an infant of another species the same way...some people do and some of other species do too !

A bit of prosperity and peace is needed around the world, an egalitarian revolution is due again.

Our economy is hopelessly stuck, 950 million phones, etc. is a sham published by bureaucrats who want to cover up a facade, that is cracking. There are people in this discussion who don't to face reality either !

But I'm not without hope. I do think Narendra Modi has seen and understood the reality, but he needs people with an honesty of purpose and skills to execute. Those will come, if one sees and tells about the things as they really are !
He doesn't need any loudmouths or bigots who can only seethe and bark, which achieves nothing.
