Scholars in India rarely do research. Finally devaluation of ideals and ethics among the so-called scholars has commenced. The world is no longer run by scholars, but by creative people and smart people who have leveraged technology in the world. Scholars will not matter anymore

Award return is attention seekers
by RAMAN GOPAL on Oct 30, 2015 11:14 PM  | Hide replies

These writers, historian and film makers are attention seekers so that new generation should know there name as award winners nothing else.It could have better if they should participate in debates, write in columns or make films against the policies of current governments. This decease started from Nayan Tara Shegal. Who is this lady? She is from Nehru family. It is quite natural that these people will feel suffocated in new power structure.I will say in Hindi" Namak ka hak ada kar rahe hain".But for the common people like me, it's a drama only because nothing has change drastically in last 14-15 months, life is as usual even I will say feel more proud these day to be Indian.

Fully subscribe to the views of the learned respondent. In a society as large as India, few dissent voices are always expected.

That there are 4693 distinct communities

in India is a fact that would cause severe discomfiture for those attuned to the Sangh Parivar spawned way of thinking, a thinking that tries so very hard to make it appear that India is all about and should be all about a monolithic and monochromatic society !

This thinking - whose glaring contradictions and weaknesses are sought to be hidden behind aggressive posturing and blatantly Goebbelsian arguments - is referred to by sections as ideology.

What is the Sangh Parivar ideology ?

The term ideology usually refers to the set of ideas and beliefs of a group or political party. And the central or most important theme of such ideas and beliefs ought to be the manner of running of the economy.

In this context, what does the Sangh Parivar *ideology* have in terms of the economy of the nation and on how it should be run ?

Well, the truth is that the Sangh Parivar does not have any declared statement at all in this respect. If this question is addressed to any of the Sangh Parivar *ideologues*, they either try to avoid the subject altogether or speak in different voices, indicating a lack of clarity and lack of common intent in this most vital among parameters for governance and nation building.

There is one segment in the Sangh Parivar - whose public work crystallised some time in the 1990s into a body that called itself the *Swadeshi Jagran Manch* - whose statements of intent had elements of socialism.

Indeed, other segments of the Parivar such as the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh also come out sometimes with statements seen as supportive of or put up pretences at supporting the socialist mode of managing the economy.

But all that has been swept away in recent years by the Sangh Parivars political arm, the BJP. Since its inception in 1980, the BJP has rarely tried to hide its purpose of working at leaving the management of all or most national resources in private hands rather than retaining them in state control.

Since the arrival of Narendra Modi as the leader of the BJP, the emphasis on such *opening up* of the economy under the cover of the thick smokescreen created by the rest of the Parivar organisations using religious divides and sectarian affinities has increased several fold.

Recently, when all major trade unions of the country went on a common nationwide strike to protest the blatant efforts of the govt to cede control of more and more national resources to private hands, the BJP used its clout with the Sangh Parivar to torpedo the wish of the BMS to join the strike.

And through all these games in the shadows, the RSS remains so very tight lipped about what goes on on the economic front !

Perhaps the RSS fears that its central motive of making every Indian divert all his or her thoughts to religious identities (hyndu......muxlim........hyndu......chrittin.......hyndu....) for perpetuity would be ill served if it begins to talk about the economy !

Do surrender to self serving people , Modi Gov. should continue
by Ashim Ghosh on Oct 30, 2015 11:05 PM  | Hide replies

These self serving people did little for the people, other than their own interest. These people have shown little interest in tens of thousands of people killed in communal riots in the last 65 years.
They are only afraid to loose their elite status IN DEVELOPED INDIA,in near future.
They need poverty stricken, frighten and helpless group to clap for them.

Pseudo Scholars
by sanjay razdan on Oct 30, 2015 11:05 PM  | Hide replies

Anand Patwardhan on Times now openly admitted on Wednesday night that he is a Modi baiter and did not want him to be PM in the first place. Like Patwardhan, each of these pseudo scholars have allegiance to congress government and they know that their careers are finished if Modi continued at the helm. These pseudo scholars in the first place perhaps recieved these awards undeservingly, thats why there is no pain of returning award in the first place. Yesterday one film maker was asked on an English news channel whether he will receive national award if given by the current NDA government and he said YES... all panelists were stunned as to why this drama in the first place... These scholars are talking about intolerance and emergency like situation in India.. Anupam Kher asked the anchor whether there is any Gov pressure or coersion on any Gov or private institution in India... the answer wad no. The fact that all these scholars are freely expressing their venom on TV itself proved that we there is no intolerance and no emergency like situation.. shame on these scholars
