Iron man hd great respect for Gandhiji and Nehru. He worked relentlessly for the integration of India along with Pandith Nehru. he did not crib for the recognition or position. Why now to rakeup the history and poison the minds of young. Let us move forward and let us glorify Patel who was great son of India without diminishing others contribution as history does not have precise barometer to measure each ones effort in such a mass movement.

Sardar Patel (mis)appropriated
by Vijay Sahani on Oct 27, 2015 11:24 AM  | Hide replies

Sardar Patel has been (mis) appropriated by BJP / RSS. Of course, BJP / RSS do not have anyone of the stature of Sardar Patel who were involved in the freedom movement (actually, RSS supported the Britishers!) and so it's best to poach on the leaders of Congress.

Sardar Patel's views about RSS :

On Mahatma Gandhi’s murder: “There is no doubt in my mind the extreme section of the_Hindu_Mahasbha was involved in this conspiracy”.

On the RSS: The activities of the RSS constituted a clear threat to the existence of the Government and the State.

His famous “poison” statement: The speeches of the Sangh leaders are poisonous. It is as a result of this venom that Mahatma Gandhi has been assassinated.

And shockingly again: The followers of the Sangh have celebrated Gandhiji’s assassination by distributing sweets.

And then speaking in the Lok Sabha in August 1950: You must remember that when the Father of the Nation was murdered, it was by a group of people who belonged to that organisation_[Hindu_Mahasabha]. I am ready to prove to anybody that there was a group of people there who were determined to take his life.

You are right. Patel was no sympathiser of RSS and BJP people are trying to use Patel's name to denigrate Nehru and his family. This is clearly vendetta politics and by the way since BJP does not have any nationalist icon of its own, they are trying to use leaders of past to glorify themselves before masses and score some silly points over Late PM Nehru's family.just check their glorification of Patel, Shastri, JP, lohiya, Gandhi. It only exposes their own shallowness.

Oh I thought Patel was Indian. Thanx for clarifying he was not. BTW, read the above article instead of mere headline.

Sardar Patel

There is no doubt at all that Sardar Patel was the great leader of India and had played the great role in the freedom movement as well for successfully merged all princely states to the United India. He was the most popular leader and was having support of aLL THE MEMBERS OF THE PARTY.However, Gandhi had more love and affection towards Jawaharlal Nehru for the reasons best known only to him. Inspite of full support for Patel by all the party members, Gandhi emotionally blackmailed Sardar and compell Sardar to withdrew from the race of Prime ministership in favour of Nehru. Congress did great injustice to Sardar who died in 1950 but was awarded Bharat Ratna much much later in 1991 with Rajiv Gandhi.
