Today is birth anniversary of Mahatmaji. There is no dispute about his contribution for the nation, however there is nothing wrong to evaluate his teachings 1. Ahimsa ( non violence) the failure of this was evident when hundreds of thousand innocent people died in atrocities, rape and butchery. Even Mahatmaji could not do anything for stoppage of these atrocities. 2. Swadeshi With the arrival of several MNCs and flooding of markets with the foreign goods, this has no meaning, unless efforts are made by the authorities to promote and protect the interests of Indian goods and manufacturers.
