OROP
by MS Chandrashekar on Nov 11, 2015 11:10 AM

It is very unfortunate that the Defence minister by his lack of understanding of defence matters purely gone by the diktats of Babus. India is the only country on earth where the defence ministry goes to supreme court for reviewing decisions given in favour of a soldier. No other country it happens! However Narendra Modi genuinely loves Armed forces personnel and it was he who raised the hopes of OROP for Ex servicemen. Congress has been fooling defence personnel in the last 60 years and all defence personnel are aware of this. While it is good that this government has met major demands of OROP, it would have been prudent to take Ex serviceman along in their final decision. It is possible to revise and adjust automatically the pension using a software which can be easily developed. The defence minister even had goofed up on Premature retirement issue and it was only Modi who intervened and bulldozed for correcting this aspect. Defence minister by his immature way of dealing with the matter has taken away the credit that this government truly deserves for OROP which was pending for 40 years. I feel it is high time that those who are experts in warfare should be part of decision making in the ministry of defence. India got away in the past with this grievous error. But it will no more be possible now and in future for India to win wars with Babus taking all decisions on the matters concerning soldiers welfare and also deciding on which weapons to use in warfare!

This is a bit too much from the Def Min ....

I have to say it that the defence minister has been thoroughly misguided by the babus. What is the problem in updating pension every year ?? The software has to be programmed to do it once a year instead of every five years,is that too difficult a task ??? The intention is not thwere. The govt just wants to create a reason for court cases as in most other aspects of promotions, disability pensions and so on. The def min should not lecture veterans, he has no leg to stand on.

yeah, when Bank robberies go wrong, or a corruption case goes wrong or when they die from extra cholesterol I agree Civilians also die....the last especially true for ourIAS/IPS/IRS. These protesting veterans or their ARMY counterparts do not have some exclusive right on dying!

I am wondering if these war veterans fought for the nation or for JN or Indira Gandhi. They are being used by Congress who set aside a paltry 500 crores on the eve of relinquishing governance so that it becomes an headache for the next govt. Fortunately, a large section of veterans are not in the protest because they know if Cong was in power neither what they got also would not have been implemented nor would their have been protests.

Veterans Protest

After assuring the Veterans that OROP has been granted, will be granted, on numerous occasions, before coming to power and after forming government, the Prime Minister Narender Mody and his ministers--Fin Minister Arun Jaitley and Def Minister Parrikar, have gone back on their word. The definition of OROP has been given and accepted by a parliamentary committee--Kushyari Committee, but they have reneged on the committment.
It is obvious that the bureaucrats have been totally involved in manipulating OROP matters.
In a statement one bureaucrat (now retired) has admitted to a 'sleight of hand' in granting the IAS the OROP but denying the armed forces veterans. They have twisted the awards of the Pay Commissions. It has not been investigated on how many other occasions the bureaucrats have been involved in so called "sleight of hand" which is nothing but a convenient way of dismissing matters which are serious scams.
It is no wonder the veterans are protesting.Everyday brings in information how they have been reduced in in their pay perks and protocol. Widows, martyrs, and others have been demeaned by being forced to demand only what is their right, which has been denied from 1973 onwards. Time and time again they have suffered at the hands of the politicians and bureaucrats, while they have given their sweat and blood for India.
Aptly they now demand ..Apna Hak Ithe Rakh!!

See we are the rulers...you are subjects. We represent the pure Hindu majority of the Country, the Brahmans. If you are not happy go to Pakistan. Our Culture Minister has already said, our undefeatable Amit Shah sir has said, our PM is not said anything against it hence it is official. Our Hon MP Rajyawardhan who is a great Army General above all of you and who fought the Kargil war from the Mountain top single-handedly to throw pakistanis, and our own Minister VK Singh who single-handedly confused all Khangress MPs when he threw mud on your worst Defence Minister are in support and agree that OROP should be given as it has been agreed and notified and no need to listen to beggars! You and all of your ilk can stop protesting else we will teach you a lesson like we are teaching Kejriwal, and will shortly teach AMMA and DIDI. Mulayam is already understood what our CBI Bhakt can do. So just take what is given, when we win UP because of you all, we will see if any more clause should be added
