Mix up of roles leading to derogatory remarks .
by soumyen sarkar on Mar 06, 2015 07:29 PM

There are several professions , where one can earn by publicly defending the dihonests and criminals. Lawyers are leading the list in that context. You can earn money by defending Kasav, you can earn money by defending those who have stashed money abroad. So what this particular advocate said, should be considered in that perspective, But, he should mind , he cannot say he would torch his daughter for any reason whatsoever, be it in the context of defending the beastly clients or as interpolation of arguments. As a lawyer, he must remember, he cannot take law in his own hands . The Law will take its own course if he really does what he said. He might be good advocate but not being a good dad or law abiding citizen. Who gave him right to do so . One can father a child , but the same father has no right to take away his child's or daughter's life. The courts also award capital punishments only ion rarest of the rare cases. Simply because you don't see something eye to eye with someone does not give youy right to take away one's life. I think, it is time, law takes its own course. The criminal's statement is known. But the advocate's utterances or no less reprehensible.
